William Cornelius Bowman Sr.
Services for William Cornelius Bowman Sr. will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bowman died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 82.
Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Otis Bowman Sr. and Melissa Beverly Bowman; and two sisters, Ruby Bowman Hall and Minnie Bowman Meeks.
Survivors include four sons, William Bowman Jr., Connie Bowman and Larry Bowman, all of Vicksburg, and William Bowman III of Dallas; four daughters, Eunice Smith, Brenda Bowman, Elise Chambers and Tamara Antwine, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Gleneva Flowers of Lynnwood, Ill.; one brother, Sam Bowman Jr. of Vicksburg; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. – Jennye A. Hughes, 63, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Hughes was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Memphis, to the late Jesse and Byron Hundley Armstrong. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Parker Jr.; a brother, Jesse Harper Armstrong; and a sister, Mona Armstrong Guthrie.
Survivors include her son, Darwin Lane Hughes; three daughters, Petesy (Brion) Baker, Kristy Hughes and Jennifer Hughes; five grandchildren, Mitchell, Trey, Ryan, Devin and Blake; a brother, Gail (Teena) Armstrong; a sister, Beverly A. Ervin (John) Harris; the father of Kristy and Jennifer, Wayne F. Hughes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Jennye will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Bradley’s Chapel in Oak Ridge.

Richard Earl Ray Sr.
Richard Earl Ray Sr. died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Miss. He was 44.
Born in Louise, Miss., he attended school at the Humphrey County Schools. He was a member of Holly Chapel M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Richard Ray; and a brother, Patrick Ray.
He is survived by one son, Richard Ray Jr. of Vicksburg; a daughter, Trimeka Ray of Vicksburg; his mother, Edna E. Ray of Vicksburg; three brothers, James Ray of Yazoo City, Kenneth Ray and Alex Ray, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Amy Luster of Chicago, Virginia Woolfolk of Yazoo City, Melissa Ray of Jackson and Jennifer Ray of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem M.B. Church on Youngtown Road with the Rev. Booker T. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.
Hallie Price Simmons.
Hallie Price Simmons died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Simmons was the daughter of the late John Dalton Price and Almeta Miller Price.
With her husband, she owned and operated Vicksburg Laundry and Cleaners for a number of years. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Simmons Sr.; two sisters, Genevieve Price and Callie Price Evans; and a grandson, James Dalton Buford.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn S. Douglas and Brenda S. Mann, both of Vicksburg, and Patricia S. Geiger of Bolton; three sons, John D. Simmons and Charles W. Simmons Sr., both of Vicksburg, and James L. Simmons Jr. of Natchez; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Macon Phillips, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Mann, Claude Derriso, Jimmy House, Bradley Craft, Morris Keith and Hilbert Shiers.
