Willie Mae Ferguson.
Willie Mae Ferguson died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 79.
A retired Head Start teacher, Ms. Ferguson was a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ferguson and Willie Ann Jackson-Ferguson; four brothers, John Earl Ferguson, Elmer Lee Ferguson, Lee Arthur Ferguson and Clarence Ferguson; and four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ferguson, Cleo Ferguson Williams, Lucy F. Romes-Barber and Ruthie Lee Ferguson-Woods.
Survivors include two sons, John J. Ferguson of Vicksburg and Albert Ferguson of Hawthorne, Calif.; and one sister, Marie Ferguson of Long Island, N.Y.
James Haney Jr.
Services for James Haney Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robbins Funeral Home with the Rev. R.L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a wake from 5:30 until 7.
Mr. Haney died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 53.
Mr. Haney was a resident of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Mae Haney Boyd; and his father, James Haney Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Marcella Haney of Vicksburg; two brothers, Willie Richardson of Jackson and Larry Haney of Vicksburg; four sisters, Inishal Ann Haney and Mary Louise Reese, both of Milwaukee, Wis., Beatrice Haney of Vicksburg and Mattye Watson of Jackson; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Rosie Lee Washington Mason.
Services for Rosie Lee “Duma” Washington Mason will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary M.B. Church with the Rev. R.T. Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
Mrs. Mason died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at her home. She was 78.
A homemaker, Mrs. Mason was a member of Calvary M.B. Church. She was a former member of the church’s usher board and Brooklyn Chapter No. 14 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mason Sr.; one son, James Mason Jr.; her parents, Willie Sr. and Rosie Leon Washington; and three brothers, Willie Washington Jr., A.C. Washington and Samuel Washington.
Survivors include a son, John Edward Mason of Jackson; two daughters, Gloria “Bae Bae” Mason and Glenn “Lisa” Mason Gaston, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Ernest Washington of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Willie Mae Lindsey of Vicksburg and Marie Kriesel of Detroit; 10 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives, including the Washington family in Rolling Fork.
Pearlie Mae Norrise.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Services for Pearlie Mae Norrise will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Baptist Church in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Bovina.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Norrise died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana, Ill. She was 48.
Mrs. Norrise was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Ragan Sr. and Caldonia Pinkney; and two brothers, Leonard Ragan and Andrew Ragan Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Mose Norrise Jr. of Edwards; three daughters, Victoria Buchanan and Nickole Wesley, both of Champaign, and Shirley Norrise of Edwards; a stepdaughter, Bobbie Evans of Edwards; a stepson, Walter Thomas of Jackson; two sisters, Lizzie Hudson of Edwards and Geneva Wilson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Walter Ragan and John Willie Ragan, both of Edwards; 12 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Emma W. Savage.
Emma W. Savage died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill. She was 98.
Mrs. Savage was born in Warren County to Frank and Clara Wells Williams. A homemaker, she was a graduate of The Baptist Academy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Savage Jr.; a daughter, Rosie Lee Savage-Chatman; a grandson, Albert Horne III; and two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by a brother, the Rev. Alfred Williams of Chicago; one daughter, Margaret M. Horne of Chicago; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Christian Home No. 2 Church, Lee and Gibson roads, with the Rev. Charlie Blackmore officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service.
Joe Bryant Willis Jr.
OCEAN SPRINGS – Joe Bryant Willis Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Sunplex Nursing Home in Ocean Springs. He was 65.
Mr. Willis was a former resident of Port Gibson.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey Willis of Vancleave; three daughters, Lou Anne Bosarge and Ava Willis, both of Ocean Springs, and Penny Boudreaux of D’Iberville; one brother, Hackley Willis of Doyline, La.; six sisters, Ann Beaube of Dentville, Betty Foster of Port Gibson, Carolyn Neese of D’Iberville, Loraine Brown of Vicksburg, Hilda Franklin of Brandon and Martha Rials of Harrisville; and seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Claiborne County. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the service.
