Gerald E. Braddock
Gerald E. Braddock died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 69.
A native of Ripley, Miss., Mr. Braddock was a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law. He moved to Vicksburg in the early 1960s. He served stints as attorney for the Warren County Board of Supervisors and the Warren County Port Commission and as a member of the Port Commission. He was also president of the Mississippi Board of Supervisor Attorneys. He served the Mississippi Bar Association in many capacities, including the review panel for judgeships.
He also served as chancery judge. He served terms as president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association and the Warren County Bar Association. He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Braddock of Vicksburg; his daughter, Schuyler Braddock Oaks and her husband, Larry, of Vicksburg; one son, Gerald Talmadge Braddock; and four grandchildren, Braddock Oaks, Jackson Oaks, Gerald Talmadge Braddock Jr. and Presley Marie Montgomery.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tim Erskine officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Louis Field, Dr. Charles Harbison, Dr. Kimble Love, Robert Mays, Kyle McCaskill, Don S. Miller Jr. and J. Mack Varner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Cappaert, Buddy Dees, Bobby Ellis, David Ellis, Hayward Green, Dr. Briggs Hopson, German Jordan, Robert McConnell, Jim Newman, Bobby Robinson, Newell Simrall III, Earnest Thomas and Chick Warner.

Anna Maud Smith Jones
CHICAGO – Anna Maud Smith Jones, formerly of Vicksburg, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Chicago. She was 65.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Smith Sr. and Ruth Ann Kirkland Smith; a son, Victor Jones; a sister, Bonnie Haymond; and four brothers, Mark Smith, Nathan Smith Sr., Francis Smith and Rufus “Duff” Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Jones Sr. of Vicksburg; two sons, Billy Jones Jr. and Michael Jones, both of Chicago; three daughters, Tracey Jones-Rush and Veronica “Boo” Jones, both of Chicago, and Twanna “Keela” Jones of Las Vegas; four sisters, Emma Ree Benard and Mary Ruth Wilmore, both of Chicago, and Alice Mae Hill and Barbara Jean Pierce, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Frank Smith Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Willie Harold Smith of San Diego, Calif., Harvey L. Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dan E. Smith of Philadelphia, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including the Mitchell, Parson and Ross families.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Jehovah M.B. Church, 1101 S. Austin Blvd., Chicago.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Albert Sweet Sr.
Albert Sweet Sr. died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at his home. He was 70.
Mr. Sweet was of the Baptist faith. He retired from KLLM Trucking and was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Emory Sweet; two sons, Dewayne Sweet and Donald Sweet; one daughter, Beverly Sweet O’Neal; and a granddaughter, Jasmine Sweet.
Survivors include four sons, Albert Sweet Jr., Jimmy Sweet and Albert Johnson, all of Vicksburg, and Michael Sweet of Jackson; two daughters, Dorothy Sweet Felix of Vicksburg and Patria Sweet of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including the Gloria “BaBa” Mason family.
