Jessie Marie Boleware
Jessie Marie Boleware died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 53.
Mrs. Boleware was born in St. Louis, Mo., to Homer J. and Claudette Tillman Hall. A homemaker, she had lived most of her life in Warren County.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She is survived by her husband, Bert Boleware of Vicksburg; two daughters, Jen Britt of Vicksburg and Angelia Hosch of Slidell, La.; a son, Clint Boleware of Crystal Springs; three sisters, Judy McCommon and Betty Bullock, both of Vicksburg, and Barb Hall of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a brother, Charles Hall of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Laura Lorene Fant
Laura Lorene Fant died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. She was 88.
Born in Redwood, Miss., Lorene was the daughter of William Wylie Jeffers and Glennie Stokes Jeffers. Lorene lived in Baton Rouge most of her life, before moving to Jacksonville, Fla., in 2001. She worked most of her life as a hair stylist, which she greatly enjoyed. She was an avid gardener.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon P. Fant of Vicksburg. They were married for 43 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Karla F. Gilmer of Florida and son-in-law, Jan Gilmer; two grandchildren, Jason and Alissa; sisters, Lucille J. Begue, Billie Ruth and Lorene Barnett; and two brothers, C.L. “Buddy” Jeffers and Levon Jeffers.
Services will be at noon Friday at Green Oaks Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight and from 11 a.m. Friday until noon at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Green Oaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Alzheimer’s Association or a local community hospice.
Johnny Kennedy
Johnny Kennedy died at his home on Feb. 2, 2007, at the age of 77 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie Harris and Daniel C. Kennedy in Tensas Parish (Waterproof, La.), and his sister Helen. Johnny retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a core driller in April 1991. He was a member of the Shiloh M.B. Church on Green Street.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 56 years, Roberta Ernestine Bingham Kennedy; three daughters Sharlyn (Larry) Wilkinson, Atlanta, Ga., Joyce (Willie) White, Jackson, Miss., and Debra (Donald) Smith, Vicksburg; five grandchildren, Larrell, Shayla and Lance Wilkinson, Atlanta; Felicia and Duane Smith, Vicksburg; a goddaughter, Tracy Brown; three brothers, D.C. (Nellie), George (Louise) Kennedy of Vicksburg and Isaac (Otha) Kennedy of Waterproof; a loving aunt, Mrs. Camille Cox, Vicksburg; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Priscilla Spencer and Mrs. Gladys Bingham, Vicksburg, Mrs. Louise Bingham, Jackson, and Mrs. Julia (Horace) Thomas, Greenville, Miss.; two brothers-in-law, George (Margaret) and Haskell (Robbie) Bingham; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, caretakers and friends, including the Bell, Harris, Cox, Bingham and William families.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the Shiloh M.B. Church at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors and friends at the W.H. Jefferson Funeral Chapel from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Mr. Kennedy’s body will lie in state at the Shiloh M.B. Church from 9 until 11 a.m. prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to his favorite charity, Feed the Children, or to the Shiloh Church Building Fund in his honor.
W. H. Jefferson is in charge of funeral arrangements.
William Henry Major
Services for William Henry “Bubba” Major will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Travis Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Major died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 76.
Mr. Major was of the Baptist faith. He was a security guard for Baker Security Services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Major Sr. and Viola Major; three brothers, Leon Major, James T. Major and Jacob Major Jr.; and a sister, Gertrude Major Johnson.
He is survived by two brothers, Hugh Major of San Diego, Calif., and Sherdi Major of Hazlehurst; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including members of the Major, Wildee, Taylor, Johnson and Winters families.
Patricia Gail Wright
CLINTON – Patricia Gail Wright, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Riggs Manor. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Episcopal Church of the Creator in Clinton. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park in Vicksburg following the service.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the church and one hour prior to the service.
Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wright was born in Memphis, Tenn. She attended Memphis State University, where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught many years in the Private Catholic School System in Memphis and was a popular substitute in the Huntsville, Ala., school system while living there.
Mrs. Wright enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach. She was an avid University of Tennessee fan, a faithful friend to her friends, but took the most pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wright; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Rhonda) Gilliam of Germantown, Tenn., Kellye Copes of Vicksburg, Kevin (Brenda) Gilliam of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Kathy (Phil) Dye of Clinton; her seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and her brother, Lynn Leatherwood.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of Church of the Creator, 1445 Clinton-Raymond Road, Clinton, MS 39056.
