Glenda J. Burke

Glenda J. Burke died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 61.

Born in Montgomery, Ala., Mrs. Burke was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She graduated from Alabama State University and received a master of business administration degree from Mississippi College. She was retired from Alcorn State University.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Jones; two brothers; and a daughter.

Survivors include her mother, Hortense Jones Knox of Montgomery; her husband, Lewis Burke Sr. of Vicksburg; a son, Lewis Burke Jr. of Bowling Green, Ky.; one sister, Debra Harris of Clinton; one brother, Stan Alston of Atlanta; two grandsons; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8 tonight at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Cook-Galloway Funeral Home in Columbia has charge of arrangements.

Keyon Semajay Cubit

CARY – Keyon Semajay Cubit, infant son of James Cubit Jr. and Natasha Traylor, both of Cary, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at his home in Cary.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Semaj Cubit of Cary.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Earline M. Dennis

Earline M. Dennis died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at her home in Delta. She was 67.

Born in Weir, Miss., Mrs. Dennis had been a resident of Delta for the past 37 years. A homemaker, she was employed as a caretaker. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie V. Dennis Sr.; two sons, Jerry Q. Dennis and Roger Dale Dennis; her parents, James and Anner Miles; and brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Willie Dennis Jr. of Magee and Jeff Dennis of Delta; two daughters, Helen Edwards of Vicksburg and Jo Anna O’Bryant of Dardenelle, Ark.; two brothers, Paul Miles of Pearl and J.H. Miles of Vicksburg; one sister, Adele Boykin of Rolling Fork; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Miles officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Edwards, Claude Billings Jr., Gregory Sanderford Jr., Johnny Miles, John Ellis and Tracy Pierce.

Rogers T. Graham

Services for Rogers T. Graham will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Jacks officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Graham died at home on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007. He was 67.

Mr. Graham had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1943. He retired from Engineer Research and Development Center, Geotechnical Laboratory where he was a material research and construction technician. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Tennie Graham; and two brothers, Gene Graham and James Graham Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Fran Graham; a sister, Nancy Trueman (Paul); a brother, Joe Graham (Randi); a sister-in-law, Jewell Graham; two sons, Ken Graham (Sara) and Lavon Jeffers (Cappy); a daughter, Lisa Harmon (Bubba); eight grandchildren, Randall Grey (Lauren), Andrew Graham, Josh Graham, Alexa Jeffers, Libby Graham, Isabella Jeffers, Aaron Harmon and Lucas Jeffers; a great-grandchild, Madison Grey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joey Graham, Randall Grey, Duffy Strawn, John T. Johnston, Charles Earl Houston, Ben Luckett and Ricky Pennington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Crist, Jerry Graham, Tom Warnock, L.C. Neilsen, Shelton Neilsen, Herbert Stokes, Shane Rowland, Wilford Cockrell, David Jones, Jim Hall, David Goodin, Ronnie Thornton, Bill May, Margaret Hicks, Sandy Redditt and Sabrina Rogers.

Rogers traveled worldwide, retiring after 37 years. One year into retirement, Rogers returned to work part-time for Applied Research Association, developing a true and lasting bond with Jim Hall and his co-workers. Rogers was a hard working man, always sacrificing his own comfort to provide for others. Rogers was a very unselfish, kind, honest and brave man whose qualities treasured most were his dedication to God and his loyalty to and love for his family.

Nancy Marie Maniel

Nancy Marie &#8220Muff” Maniel died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 30.

Ms. Maniel was a member of Christian Home M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorothy Jones and Hamp Maniel.

She is survived by three daughters, Shiquira S. Maniel, Rokeedra S. Maniel and Alexis S. Maniel, all of Vicksburg; her mother, Barbara Jean Maniel of Vicksburg; her father, Montgomery Cook of Vicksburg; a brother, Lance P. Maniel of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Jeanette M. Maniel and Angela L. Maniel, both of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Jaylen Jamaal Christopher Porter

Services for Jaylen Jamaal Christopher Porter, infant son of Kristi L. Porter and Quincy J. Miller, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Oak Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Jaylen died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.

He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jacurey Miller; his grandparents, Kathleen and James Jones, Tammy Miller, Don Crump and Charles Bracey; his great-grandparents, Charles and Shirley Porter, Josephine Walton, and Emma and Curtis C. Miller; his great-great-grandparents, Bob Porter and Katie M. Harris; and cousins and other relatives, including members of the Harris, Jones, Porter, Grant, Mounger, Nelson, Everett, Bracey, Miller and Crump families.

Gary Robert Benjamin Sanders

COPE, S.C. – Gary Robert Benjamin Sanders died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, S.C. He was 50.

Mr. Sanders was born in Vicksburg and had been a resident of Cope, S.C., for more than 20 years. He was employed by Jacobs Supply Company and was a member of Livingwells Celebration Center.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elvia Gilbert Sanders.

He is survived by his wife, Shelidonna Cancey Sanders of Cope; a daughter, Jennifer Sanders of Cope; a son, Christopher Sanders; two sisters, his twin Terry Sue Godwin and Leslie Jean Decareaux, both of Vicksburg; his father and stepmother, Robert Benjamin and Janie Sanders of Vicksburg; and nieces and a nephew.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hilderbrand Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Brumfield, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating.
