Lucille H. Crump

EDWARDS – Services for Lucille H. Crump will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem M.B. Church on Smith Station Road. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the hour of service.

Mrs. Crump died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 87.

Mrs. Crump was a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church in Edwards, where she served on the mother board.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Crump Down; three sisters, Alice Hunter, Agnes Hodge and Julia Hunter; and five brothers, Willie Hunter, Charles Hunter, George Hunter, Roosevelt Hunter and Wardell Hunter.

She is survived by three sons, Arthur Crump and George Hunter, both of Edwards, and Larry Hunter of Irving, Texas; two daughters, Sharon Hunter of Irving and Jackie Stewart of Edwards; a brother, Walter Hunter of Little Rock, Ark.; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Johnnie Holland of Chicago and Bobbie Noel of Edwards.

Lucinda Williams Dorsey

Services for Lucinda Williams Dorsey will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bypass Church of Christ on U.S. 61 North with Dr. Willie Nettle officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 9 a.m until the service.

Mrs. Dorsey died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.

A retired domestic worker, Mrs. Dorsey was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Williams; her father; her husband; one sister, Georgia Williams Bynum; and four brothers, Dennis Fleet, Bennie Williams, David Williams and Arthur Williams.

She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Willie Nettle family.

Thelma Gordon

EDWARDS – Thelma Gordon died Friday, April 13, 2007, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 88.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gordon; her parents, Joe and Beatrice Lyles; a son, Freddie Gordon; a daughter, Myrtis Woodruff Rozell; two sisters, Christine Peaches and Matilda Williams; and a brother, Ulysses McGee.

She is survived by three sons, Willie James Myles and Robert Earl Gordon, both of Edwards, and Leonard Myles of Milwaukee; two daughters, Delores Jamison of West Covina, Calif., and Williette Wagoner of Milwaukee; two stepsons, A.C. Gordon of Chicago and Percy Gordon of Urbana, Ill.; 44 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Doris Davis.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Birthenia Thomas Jackson

Birthenia Thomas &#8220Tina” Jackson died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Jackson retired as a cook from the Holiday Inn. She was a member of Standfield M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jackson Sr.; her parents, Bill and Beulah Ford Thomas; and her maternal grandparents, Milton and Esther Davis Ford.

Survivors include five sons, Vernon Thomas and Willie Jackson Thomas, both of Vicksburg, Robert Jackson of Atlanta, Milton Jackson of Lake Charles, La., and Billy Anthony Thomas of Rochester, N.Y.; four daughters, Sharon L. Johnson, Mary Carolyn Jackson, Johnnie E. Jackson and Shirley Renee Swartz, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Onetter E. Burns of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Leflora T. Pierce of Lawton, Okla.; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Nellie Ann Kennedy

Nellie Ann Kennedy died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.

Mrs. Kennedy was retired from United Cleaners. She was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church, where she was on the Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel C. Kennedy Jr.; a daughter, Mary Ann Kennedy Miles; and a grandson, Wardell Miles.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Daniel C. Kennedy Sr. of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Betty Hollins of Los Angeles; a foster sister, Dora Coleman of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including members of the Kennedy, Harris, Cox, Early, Miles, Williams, Jones and Bell families of Vicksburg and Waterproof, La.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Shiloh M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service.

Vernon Edward Nettles Sr.

Vernon Edward Nettles Sr. died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 54.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Nettles was a retired welder and self-employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mack Moore.

He is survived by two sons, Jamey Duane Nettles and Vernon E. Nettles Jr., both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Tracy Leight Foley of Vicksburg; his parents, Vernie and Paul Moore of Vicksburg; his father, Barney Nettles of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Billy L. Moore and Wilburn Brooks, both of Vicksburg, Steven Moore of Holly Bluff, Raymond A. Brooks of Biloxi and Jeff Moore of Pacifica, Calif.; two sisters, Jackie Hewitt and Billie Sue Evans, both of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Redbone Cemetery with the Rev. Clara Biedenharn officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the service.

Pallbearers will be Carl Yates, John Paul Evans, Ray Norman, James McIntyre, David Lee and Brad Matthews.
