Carl Tyson Criner

BATON ROUGE – Carl Tyson Criner died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was 69.

Mr. Criner was born in Batesville, Miss., and reared in Vicksburg. Following graduation from Carr Central High School and Hinds Junior College, he served as a Seabee in the Navy.

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Mr. Criner was retired from retail store management.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise O’Connor Criner; and his parents, Carl Tyson Sr. and Lois LaHatte Criner.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Carla Rees of Austin, Texas, and Charlene Patricia Criner of Baton Rouge; his sister, Joy Pilcher of Sparr, Fla.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A service will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (Sarcoma or Palliative Care Units) or to a favorite charity.

Eddie B. Foster

Services for Eddie B. &#8220Doc” Foster will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Foster died Monday, June 18, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 86.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Foster retired as a maintenance supervisor from Waterways Experiment Station. He was a member of Vicksburg Consistory No. 110 and Paragon Lodge No. 7 F&AM, where he served as past master. He served as a deacon at St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Belle Foster; his parents, Willie and Theresa Foster; a daughter, Mary Fletcher; and a sister, Willie Mae Bridges.

He is survived by his wife, Leahrene Cartwright Foster of Vicksburg; and a daughter, Yvonne Foster Williams of Vicksburg; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Willie Mae Traylor

Willie Mae Traylor died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at her home. She was 95.

A homemaker, Mrs. Traylor was a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Traylor; a son, John Lee Traylor; a brother, General McArthur Jr.; and a sister, Tecorla Hapson.

She is survived by three daughters, Delola Traylor of Cary and Deloris Traylor and Earline Traylor, both of Chicago; and 15 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at noon Friday at Mount Olive M.B. Church in Cary with the Rev. Willie Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
