Nettie M. Carlisle
UTICA – Nettie M. Carlisle died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Chadwick Nursing and Rehab in Jackson where she had been a resident for almost four years.
Mrs. Carlisle was born on Feb. 13, 1906, in Southwestern Hinds County near Utica, Miss. She was 100 years old and the oldest member of Utica Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
She was the youngest daughter of John Gray Marble and Mary Vianna Hilton Marble. She married Charlie Griffin Carlisle Sr. in 1942. She was a homemaker who lived her entire life in the Utica area.
Mrs. Carlisle is survived by a son, Charlie Griffin Carlisle Jr. of Bentonia, Miss.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Utica Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Ed Parks, Lee Herren, Bob Lee Currie, Dan Currie, Murray Griffin and Dub Lloyd.
James B. Carroll
James B. “Jimmy” Carroll died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 62.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Carroll attended Redwood High School and served in the Navy. He was a millwright and iron worker. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by hisfather, John Charles Carroll.
He is survived by two sons, William Charles “Charlie” Carroll and James Burn “Jaye” Carroll Jr. of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; his mother, Betty Carroll of Vicksburg; two sisters, Freda Stringer and Jean Muirhead, both of Vicksburg; and two brothers, J.W. Carroll of Vicksburg and Billy Ray Carroll of Winnfield, La..
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Lamar Carpenter, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Winnfield, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Andy Wilkinson, Randy Thorne, Nathan Skipworth, Louis Hasty, Bobby Glen Layton and Chris Boyd.
