Justin Maurice Harris
Justin Maurice Harris died Sunday, June 17, 2007, as a result of gunshot wounds. He was 25.
A 2000 graduate of Warren Central High School, Mr. Harris was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mozella S. Harris; and a paternal grandfather Jessie Lumpkin Sr.
Survivors include his father, Jessie Lumpkin Jr.; three daughters, Zaniya Harris of Vallejo, Calif., and Jamyiah McCline and Jada Carter, both of Vicksburg; three sons, Justin Maurice Harris Jr. of New Orleans, Juanay Harris of Vallejo and Montreal Harris of Vicksburg; a sister, Jessica M. Harris of Vicksburg; three brothers, Rickey Bowman of Minneapolis and Jarvis Bowman and Jessie Lumpkin III, both of Vicksburg; a maternal grandmother, Pauline Harris Williams of Vicksburg; a paternal grandmother, Jewel M. Lumpkin of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Grady W. Leese
Grady W. Leese, 85, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.
Mr. Leese was born in Franklin County, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He graduated from Carr Central High School and Mississippi State University. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-24 heavy bomber pilot in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. His medals include a medal with five bronze stars and an Air Medal with one Oakleaf Cluster.
He retired from Waterways Experiment Station as a supervisor research engineer. He and his wife, Martha, compiled several books of genealogical data. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon and elder. He was also a member of the Order of the First Families of Mississippi and several genealogical societies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Webster and Cenia Isabelle Adams Leese; two sisters, Thelma Margaret Leese and Maybelle Leese Smith; and one brother, James R. Leese.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Elizabeth Price Leese of Vicksburg; one daughter, Anna Fuller and her husband, Edd, of Charlottesville, Va.; two sons, David L. Leese and his wife, Carla, and Allan N. Leese and his wife, Joan, all of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Alice Tiffany Leese Luke and husband, Scott, Kimberly Michele Leese and Christopher Allan Leese, all of Vicksburg; two great-grandchildren, Payton Gage Webster Price and Alice Grace Luke, both of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Reiber, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Matt Buckles, pastor of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg and the Rev. John T. Allen, former pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visiting hours will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Deacons and elders of Westminster Presbyterian Church will serve as pallbearers.

Vivian Margaret Carpenter Rodgers
ROLLING FORK – Vivian Margaret “Bebe” Carpenter Rodgers, 84, died at her home today, June 18, 2007.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork. There will be an opportunity for visiting beginning at 1 p.m.
She was born in Rolling Fork to Annie Watson Barnard and Harry Gordon Carpenter on July 25, 1922. Bebe attended Blue Mountain College and graduated from the University of Mississippi with majors in chemistry and English. In 1944, she married William Roderick “Buck” Rodgers. The couple moved to Sarasota, Fla., until his discharge from the Army Air Force. They returned to Rolling Fork at that time.
Bebe spent her lifetime as an activist in the community, working with literacy efforts both within the school system and as a volunteer in other venues. She was a member of the Sharkey-Issaquena Line Consolidated School District Board of Trustees from the 1950s through the 1980s, serving as both secretary and president. Bebe was active in both the United Methodist Church and the Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork, a participant in Cursillo and on the staff of Kyros Ministries. She served for several years as the Soil & Water District Commissioner and was recognized by Staplcotn as an outstanding farm woman.
Bebe was also a founding member of the Betsy Love Allen DAR Chapter, a board member of the Associated Producers Gin and a member of the Delta Council. She served as treasurer of the Mound Cemetery Board, a member of Friends of the Library and was a life master bridge player. Beyond any specific accomplishment, Bebe will be remembered for the encompassing generosity of her friendship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Roderick Rodgers; and her granddaughter, Charlotte Murray Pace.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Pace and Sue Spang and her husband, Fritz; her son, Drick Rodgers; four grandchildren, Sam Pace, Julia Ewing, Ellen Rodgers and John Pace; and a sister, Ladye Carpenter Freitag.
