Tommie Brown

Tommie Brown died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 89.

Mr. Brown was minister of The Church of Christ for more than 50 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired LeTourneau maintenance technician.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Greene Brown; his parents, Bryant and Mary Brown; and three sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include a son, Cecil L. Brown of Vicksburg; three daughters, Felicia Brown Wolfe of Jackson, and Sharon Brown Judson and Natalie Brown Erves, both of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Harriett B. Diggs

LANCASTER, Texas — Harriett B. Diggs died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at her home in Lancaster, Texas. She was 86.

She is survived by a son, Harrison Diggs of Pearl; three daughters, Christine Wilson of Los Angeles, Carolyn Maddox of Dallas and Delores Edwards of Realto, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Baptist M.B. Church in Fitler with the Rev. Quincy Washington officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Delvin Paige

Services for Delvin Paige will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church with the Rev. Antione Eakins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 tonight at Williams Funeral Service and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Paige died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at River Region Medical Center as the result of a gunshot wound. He was 20.

Mr. Paige was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Howard Stampley Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Barbara Paige; and his maternal great-grandparents, Howard Stampley Sr. and Mamie McLoyd.

Survivors include his parents, Juda Stampley Palmer and Kenneth Paige Sr., both of Vicksburg; his stepfather, Curtland Wince of Vicksburg; a son, Dontae Paige of Vicksburg; his fiancee, Danyelle Ware of Vicksburg; seven brothers, Derrick Paige, Dedric Paige, Dexter Paige and Donovin Paige, all of Vicksburg, Kenneth Paige Jr. and Jonathan Paige of Florida, and Nathan Paige of Las Vegas; two sisters, Jennifer Paige of Alabama and Sontreka Sims of Las Vegas; his maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Mason; and other relatives and friends, including John Jones Sr. of Vicksburg.

Tommie Lee Redmon Sr.

HOLLANDALE — Tommie Lee Redmon Sr. died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at his home in Hollandale. He was 62.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Redmon of Chicago; two sons, Tommie Redmon Jr. and Curtis Winston, both of Chicago; two daughters, Rose Marie Winston and Patricia Winston, both of Chicago; five brothers, K.C. Redmon of Hollandale, Elbert Redmon of Fitler, Archie Redmon and Johnell Redmon, both of Greenville, and Roosevelt Redmon of Anguilla; a sister, Dorothy Redmon of Hollandale; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hobe M.B. Church in Hollandale. Burial will follow at Caney Cemetery in Delta City under the direction of Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Elmarie W. Upshire

Elmarie W. Upshire died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 66.

Mrs. Upshire was a member of Clover Valley M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Upshire; a son, Hosea M. Upshire; her parents, Woodrow Prentiss and Ida Watts Alexander; and two brothers, Ed B. Watts and Albert Prentiss.

She is survived by two sons, Dwayne Upshire of Vicksburg and Charles Upshire of Mobile, Ala.; two daughters, Williamina Edwards of Vicksburg and Sabrina Jefferson of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Fred Prentiss of St. Louis and Cleophaus Brown Jr. of Vicksburg; four sisters, Christine Thomas and Inetta Miller, both of Vicksburg, and Barbara Jean Davis and Alice Conley, both of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Irene Watts of Vicksburg.
