Fannie Clark
TALLULAH — Fannie Clark died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. She was 95.
A homemaker, Mrs. Clark was a member of New Hope M.B. Church in Tallulah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Clark Sr.; her parents, Willis Jamison and Idella Gladney Jamison; a sister, Inez Patterson; and a brother, Johnny Jamison.
She is survived by five sons, Nathan Clark Jr., Fred Charles Ray Clark, Leroy Clark, all of Tallulah, Matthew Lee Clark of Los Angeles and Johnny B. Clark of Pasadena, Calif.; a daughter, Bobby Clark Shorter Esters of Tallulah; a sister, Ruby Dotson of Kosciusko; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
Ruth Johnson
Inez Ruth Johnson died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007. She was 86.
A native of Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Lorena Terrell Dugan. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Douglas Johnson; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by five daughters, Delores R. Nevels of Dianna, Texas, Kathleen L. Johnson of Pittsburg, Texas, and Peggy R. Cockrell, Margaret A. Hadad and Linda F. Ellison, all of Vicksburg; two sons, Henry L. Johnson of Vicksburg and Eugene D. Johnson of Pittsburg; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary May officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.
Maurice Dykes Whatley
Maurice Dykes Whatley died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at the Walton Regional Medical Center in Monroe, Ga. She was 85.
Born in Kentwood, La., she was a longtime former resident of Vicksburg and had been a resident of Great Oaks, Monroe, since 2005.
Mrs. Whatley was the daughter of the late Murphy Dykes and Kate Stella Lewis Dykes. She was the widow of Richard Tillman Whatley. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, E. W. Dykes, Reed Dykes and Willis Dykes.
She is survived by a son, Richard Steven Whatley and his wife, Marilynn, of Covington, Ga.; two grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Whatley Lockerman and her husband, Chris, of Covington and Richard Andrew McDonald Whatley and his wife, Abby, of Lilburn, Ga.; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Morgan Lockerman.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the service.
