BUFFALO, N.Y. — Services for Roger Lee “Bear” Davis were Monday, August 27, 2007, at Thomas T. Edwards Funeral Home in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Rev. Hamid Motley officiated. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Davis died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. He was 61.

Mr. Davis attended Addison High School in Port Gibson. He retired from DiPizio Construction after 15 years of service. He was a member of Nickel City Hunting Club and Spring Hill Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia D. Hunter-Davis of Buffalo; his mother, Emma Lee Davis of Port Gibson; two brothers, Arnette Nash and Donald “Don” Nash; two sisters, Cora Knight and Bobbie Daniels; 11 children, Andra Davis of Port Gibson, Roger Davis Jr. of Concorde, N.C., Arnette “Shawn” Davis, Shacara Davis, Renee Benning, Leon Williams Sr., Walter Williams Sr., Marshiyyat Elliott, Malikah McBurrows, Malik Elliott and Markeeta McBurrows, all of Buffalo; 30 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Henry James

LOS ANGELES — Services for Henry James will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary M.B. Church on Klein Street.

Mr. James died Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at his home in California. He was 62.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. James was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School. Having served in the U.S. Navy, he was employed as a builder for Douglas Airlines for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia “Sister Mose” James and Mose James; and a sister, Ruby Lee Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon James of Los Angeles; a daughter, Nicole James of California; three brothers, Mozel James of Carson, Calif., Charlie James and Eugene James, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Amy Crockett and Emma James Sims, both of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

John R. Knight Sr.

UTICA — John Robert Knight Sr. died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at his home. He was 81.

A lifelong resident of Utica, Mr. Knight was a World War II veteran and an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Knight and Lula Moody Knight; one brother; and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sarah Hamilton Knight of Utica; daughter Leta Fuller and her husband, Dennis; daughter Brenda Sauls; daughter Linda Frix; daughter Paula Knight; son Mack Knight and his wife, Judy; son John Knight Jr; son Roger Knight and his wife, Tammy; son James Knight and his wife, Mickie; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
