Ruby Wilkerson Brown

ROLLING FORK – Ruby Wilkerson Brown died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 73.

Born in Olivia, Tenn., Mrs. Brown had been a resident of Rolling Fork since 1964. She was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church in Rolling Fork.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Arthur Brown; and a brother, Ed Wilkerson.

She is survived by three sons, Billy Ray Brown of Holly Bluff, James W. Brown of Redwood and Arthur G. Brown of Greenville; four daughters, Sue Foster of Blacksburg, Va., Melissa Pierce and Kathleen McDaniel, both of Rolling Fork, and Faye J. Livingston of Southhaven; a brother, John T. &#8220Joe” Wilkerson of Elkhart, Ind.; two sisters, Martha Qualls of Mishwaka, Ind., and Betty Couch of Indiana; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Deer Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Luethel W. Harper

ROLLING FORK – Luethel W. Harper died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Delta Regional Hospital in Greenville. She was 77.

She is survived by a son, Fred Kennedy of Columbus, Mo.; a daughter, Lizzie Jennings; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Green Chapel M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Marilyn Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Anthony Prestianni

Anthony &#8220Tony” Prestianni died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 81.

A native of Anguilla, Mr. Prestianni attended Anguilla High School. A corporal in the U.S. Army, he retired from Marathon-Letourneau Company after 33 years of service.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and St. Michael Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosie Prestianni; and four brothers, Louis Prestianni, Vince Prestianni, Brice Prestianni and Tommy Prestianni.

He is survived by three sisters, Rosalie P. Wardlaw of Vicksburg, Camille Wardlaw of Fayetteville, Ark., and Tresie DiGiacomo of Bayside, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Vicksburg with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Jerome Curro, Robert G. Wardlaw, Ricky Prestianni, Casey Sorrels, Joe Prestianni, Joseph Curro and Clarence Prestianni.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Anita Tribble and members of VFW and American Legion.

Bingmon Shaw Sr.

JACKSON – Bingmon Shaw Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at his home in Jackson. He was 87.

Born in Jefferson County, Mr. Shaw was a former cab driver and grocery store owner. He was a member of the senior choir at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mays Shaw; his parents, Garfield Shaw and Emma Stewart; and three sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Shaw Ellis of Jackson; six sons, Bingmon Shaw Jr. of Flora, Theodore A. Shaw of Miami and Larry Shaw, Henry Shaw, William Shaw and Raymond Shaw, all of Chicago; six brothers, two sisters, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Hollywood M.B. Church with the Rev. E.E. Colenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Willie Mary Thompson

JACKSON – Willie Mary Thompson died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at her home in Jackson. She was 64.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Sr. and Josie B. Taylor; and three brothers, Dennis Taylor Jr., James Earl Taylor and Scott Taylor.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School, Alcorn College, Delta State University, Mississippi State University and the University of Tennessee. She retired as a teacher from Utica Community College and later worked for the Jackson Zoo.

She was a charter member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Alcorn State University Alumni Chapter and Morning Star Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Thompson Sr. of Jackson; a son, Lee Thompson Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Nicole Marvel of California; four sisters, Ruby Barnes of Columbus, Ohio, Jessie Lowry of Mound Bayou, Lillian Marriweather of Gary, Ind., and Verna T. Davis of Vicksburg; two brothers, Alvin E. Taylor of Vicksburg and Anthony Taylor of San Diego; and a goddaughter she reared, Jennifer S. Holmes of Vicksburg; one grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Shady Grove M.B. Church in Jackson.

Burial will follow at Autumnwood Cemetery in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Westhaven Funeral Home in Jackson.
