A 47-year-old Vicksburg woman died late Wednesday night after her car “traveling at an excessive rate of speed” left Oak Ridge Road and hit a tree, Sheriff Martin Pace said this morning.
Teresa Lynn Frazier, who lived nearby at 1315 Boy Scout Road, died at the scene from head and chest injuries, Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said. An autopsy was expected to be performed in Jackson today.
Frazier, who had lived in Vicksburg for about six months, was less than a mile from her home when the one-vehicle wreck occurred just after 11 p.m., her sister said this morning.
Susan Downs of Vicksburg said she did not know where her sister was headed.
The car, a 2003 Buick LeSabre, was westbound on Oak Ridge in the section that previously was Bowie Road, Pace said.
He said investigators found no skid marks and there was no indication that another vehicle was involved, indicating “speed was definitely a factor.” The car “actually split in two,” he said.
Frazier is survived by two sons, 26-year-old Justin Brown of Clinton and 14-year-old Cory Frazier of Vicksburg; a 5-year-old grandson, Cody Brown of Clinton; her mother, sister and two brothers, all of Vicksburg.
She worked in the accounting department of Riverside Construction, her sister said.
Stricklin-King Funeral Home of Yazoo City was to handle arrangements.
The fatal wreck was the 11th in Warren County in 2008, the eighth outside Vicksburg’s corporate limits.
