Tri-County scored on a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to beat Porters Chapel 6-5 in the season-opener for both schools.
Josh Hill hit a home run for PCA and Reed Gordon belted a two-RBI single in the sixth inning that put PCA ahead 4-3. The Eagles (0-1) added a run on a passed ball for a 5-3 lead, but Tri-County scored two in the sixth to tie it again.
In the top of the seventh, PCA’s No. 9 hitter, Colby Rushing, led off with a single, but the next three batters all struck out to end the threat.
Freshman Montana McDaniel pitched two innings of relief and was tagged with the loss.
