Jim Wilson, a Vicksburg native and guest columnist featured in The Vicksburg Post, will lead a storytelling session at the Vicksburg Senior Center.
The event is set for 10 a.m. Oct. 27 and is not limited to seniors. However, if you’re not a senior, advance notice is required. Call 601-630-8059.
Wilson, who is in his 80s, lives in Columbia, Mo. He will share stories about life in the River City in the 1930s and invites attendees to do the same. Wilson is the author of 10 books on gardening and spent 10 years as a presenter on the PBS series, “The Victory Garden.”
The senior center is at South and Walnut streets.
Arrowheads lecture part of lunch series
Historic Jefferson College will on Tuesday offer a lunchtime lecture titled “Identifying Indian Arrowheads.”
Attendees will learn how to identify some of the different rocks used to make arrowheads, the steps of making arrowheads and how to determine their age. Attendees are urged to bring points from their collections.

Historic Jefferson College is located off U.S. 61 in Washington, 4 miles north of Natchez. It is a branch of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
Applicants sought for holiday event
Mississippi Cultural Crossroads is seeking vendors for the Crossroads Christmas Marketplace, an inaugural event set for Dec. 11-13 in Port Gibson.
Booths will measure 8 feet by 6 feet and will be limited to two people. Additional chairs will be $2 each. A single booth is $40 and a group/business booth is $50. Electricity outlets are $5; a limit of 110 are available. Cords must be provided by the vendor.
The deadline to register is Nov. 21.

Fall concert set at William Carey
The William Carey University Chorale will present a fall concert at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.
Comprised of 65 singers, the choir will perform the music of Alessandro Scarlatti, John Rutter, Lloyd Pfautsch, David Wehr and Craig Courtney. Carey Carillon, the university’s handbell choir, and Carpenter’s Wood, its contemporary vocal ensemble, will also perform.
The Chorale has performed with the Mississippi Symphony in Jackson, at the Mississippi Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts in Jackson, at the 2007 Mississippi Baptist Convention and at Carnegie Hall.
The Chorale is conducted by Dr. Mark Hugh Malone, dean of the Winters School of Music at Carey. Kathy Vail is piano/organ accompanist, and she will be assisted by Dr. Howard Keever at the piano.
