A Jackson metropolitan-area couple were in the Warren County jail this morning after being arrested for methamphetamine possession at Ameristar Hotel and Casino Thursday night, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Police arrested Kimberly Tillman, 38, 4000 Moncure Road, Terry, and Fritz Kinchen, 45, 222 E. Main St., Florence, in their room at Ameristar at 8:34 p.m.

“Their arrests originated from an arrest warrant from the Brandon Police Department for methamphetamine manufacturing,” Stewart said. Brandon police notified VPD that the couple “were possibly intending to be in Vicksburg at one of the casinos.”

VPD located the suspects’ vehicle in the Ameristar parking lot, found them registered at the hotel and searched the room and found drugs, Stewart said.

Both were being held for the Brandon charges, and Tillman is also being held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation. They were to make their initial court appearances on the  possession charges this morning.

City woman charged with embezzlement

A Vicksburg woman was charged Thursday with identity theft and embezzlement, Vicksburg Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Angela Presley, 37, 434 Evans St., turned herself in to police at 8:53 a.m. after a warrant was issued for her arrest. Presley is accused of embezzling funds from a real estate company.

The exact amount of the embezzlement was not known, and no details were available on the identity theft charge.

Presley was released from the Warren County Jail on $35,000 bond at 1:47 p.m.

Stolen car found, burglaries reported in Vicksburg

Two burglaries, one attempted burglary and a recovered stolen car were reported in the city Thursday, Vicksburg Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A 2000 Mazda 626 sedan in the 1200 block of Main Street was reported burglarized at 9:18 a.m. Stolen was a Sony CD player valued at $170. It is unknown how entry into the vehicle was gained, Stewart said.

At 12:16 p.m. Vicksburg police responded to a call in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard for a residential burglary. Items reported stolen were an aluminum extension ladder valued at $130, a Dell computer monitor valued at $175, and a stationary exercise bike valued at $125. Also reported was damage to the jamb of the front door, which appeared to have been pried open, Stewart said.

At 10:33 a.m., police responded to the 700 block of Dabney Street for a possible residential burglary.

Nothing was reported missing, though neighbors reported seeing two intruders.

At 1:22 a.m. today, police recovered a 1998 Lincoln Navigator which had been reported stolen Aug. 12 in Lake Providence. The vehicle was found at the Burger King at 3121 Halls Ferry Road. It had been abandoned with the keys in it, Stewart said. No damage was evident, and police had no suspects.

Fishing gear, tools missing on Funches Road

Several Warren County burglaries were investigated Thursday.

Tools were reported missing at 5:50 p.m. from a home in the 1800 block of Funches Road. Missing were a Craftsman tool box with tools valued at $1,000; a Craftsman 14-inch chain saw valued at $170; a Craftsman 20-inch chain saw valued at $300; a Makita power saw valued at $225; a Makita cordless drill valued at $225; a Makita impact battery-powered ratchet valued at $225; two Ambassador fishing rods, with a combined value of $220; two Gauci fishing rods valued at $220; and two Daiwa fishing rods valued at $220. All items were reported taken from the carport.

* A Weber barbeque grill valued at $350 was reported stolen from the back porch of a residence in the 4300 block of Shenandoah Road off Fisher Ferry Road. The theft was called in at 1:20 p.m.

* A home in the 200 block of Overlook Drive was reported burglarized at 12:09 p.m. Stolen were a jewelry case containing three 14-carat gold rings valued at $600, a Nintendo game valued at $200, a Motorola pre-paid cell phone valued at $200 and a piggy bank with about $100 in coins. Entry was gained by breaking a back window, valued at $200.

Wreck on Old Jackson injures woman, children

A Vicksburg woman and her two young children were taken to the hospital this morning after their car skidded off Old Jackson Road and dove 30 feet into a ravine, said Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Wilson.

Meghan Marshall, 22, 1813 Heather Drive, and her two sons, 2 years and 5 months, were treated and released from River Regional Medical Center, said spokesman Allen Karel.

Marshall was traveling west in a 1998 Honda Accord around 7:40 a.m. when the car left Old Jackson Road on a curve in the road just past Culkin Road, said Wilson. Marshall was ejected from the car, and was apparently not wearing a seat belt, said Wilson, while the boys were restrained and appeared not to sustain any injuries.

Wilson said it appeared wet road conditions contributed to the wreck.
