The fourth annual V105.5 Christmas Caroling Contest will be the first weekend in December and will feature two nights of preliminary competition topped off by a night of finals after the downtown Christmas Parade.
“We’re giving away a total of $10,000 in prize money that will go to contestants and choir directors,” said event coordinator Mark Jones. “This is going to be our biggest ever — we think.”
Preliminary competitions will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and Dec. 4 at Vicksburg Auditorium. In case of overflow, an extra preliminary night will be Dec. 3.
Those who make the finals will go on to perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Vicksburg Convention Center.
Entry is free and open to individuals, groups, choirs, bands, vocalists and instrumentalists of any age. Soloists are limited to a four-minute performance and bands and choirs have a five-minute limit. An acoustic piano will be available, but all other instruments must be furnished by the performer.
Entry forms are at various locations around town, including McDonald’s, RiverHills Bank, Michelle’s Record Shop and the UPS Store. Forms will also be available at RiverHills Bank in Port Gibson. All entries must be returned by Friday at 5 p.m.
Tickets to watch the performances are $10 for a four-night pass or $5 per night and are available at the door or in advance at the UPS Store. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.
