From staff reports
Customers get gas Wednesday evening at the new Kroger discount station on Pemberton Square Boulevard. The station, at first set to open Oct. 1, turned on pumps Wednesday afternoon. Among the first customers were Jeanne Braxton of Valley Park, right, and Janice and Joel Anderson, left, all who got help navigating the system from Kroger’s Mark Lockwood. Regular gas at Kroger today was $3.87 a gallon, the same as other Vicksburg stations. Customers with a Kroger Plus Shopper’s card will save 3 cents a gallon and a total of 10 cents for every $100 spent at Kroger in a month. Shoppers approved for a Kroger MasterCard can save another 5 cents a gallon. The new Kroger grocery store, in the background, is set to open later this year.
