Ruby M. Dinning
ROLLING FORK – Ruby M. Dinning died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 92.
Mrs. Dinning was born in Missouri and had lived in Rolling Fork for a number of years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Dinning; four daughters, Bonnie Wilson, Elise Atchley, Edith Dinning and Jewel Dinning; and five sons, Archie Dinning, Merrile Dinning, Calvary Dinning, Vernon Dinning and Orville Dinning.
She is survived by three sons, Otto Dinning and Clint Dinning, both of Ackerman, and Rolin Dinning of Rolling Fork; seven daughters, Rosie Patrick and Beatrice “Bea” Jones, both of Rolling Fork, Martha Cooper of Anguilla, Dolly Walton of Ackerman, Joyce Adkins of Temperance, Mich., Ruth Lowery of Crothersville, Mo., and Lorlie Finley of Griffinville, Ark.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Keith Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be David Patrick, Mark Jones, Robbie Williams, Pee-Wee Dinning, Lloyd Dinning and Eddie Dinning.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Gentry, Dwayne Powers and Cameron Patrick.
Dan Mathews
UTICA – Dan Mathews died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Lawrence County Nursing Home in Monticello. He was 84.
A lifelong resident of Utica, Mr. Mathews retired from Hubbard Chevrolet Co. as service manager. He also served and retired as manager for the Town of Utica. He was a board member for the Hinds County Schools.
Mr. Mathews was a member of Utica Baptist Church, serving as a deacon. He was a longtime member of Utica Hunting Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Mathews; his mother, Virginia Scott Mathews; and his father, John Dennis Mathews.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Mathews and wife Shirlene of Vicksburg and Pete Mathews and wife Vickie of Monticello; one daughter, Betsy Mathews McAlpin and husband Arthur of Brandon; a sister, Mary Frances Morris of Richmond; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Utica Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mathews, Scott Mathews, Chase McAlpin, Dan Morris, Don Morris and Matt Pezold.
