Billy E. Ferguson

GREENVILLE — Billy E. Ferguson died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 76.

Mr. Ferguson had worked for Anderson-Tully Co. He was a resident of Greenville and a veteran of the Navy. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Lee Washington.

Survivors include one son, Alphonso Mays of Mobile, Ala.; one daughter, Nadia Middleton of Vicksburg; two brothers, James Washington and Joseph Washington, both of Vicksburg; and three sisters, Clara L. Carter, Vera Washington and Leoda Williams, all of Vicksburg.

Billy C. Flowers

EROS, La. — Funeral services for Mr. Billy C. Flowers, 80, of Eros, La., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, with the Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.

Mr. Flowers passed away on Jan. 5, 2008, at St. Francis North Medical Center.

Mr. Flowers was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed the outdoors and raising his animals.

He was an avid hunter and owned and operated the Eros Country Store for more than 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Eddie Flowers; brothers, W. C. Flowers and Jeff Flowers; sisters, Margie Goss and Charlotte Trosclair; and a great-grandson, Steven Flowers.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice Maroney and husband, Gary; sons, Bill Flowers and wife, Donna, Mike Flowers and wife, Brenda, and T.C. Flowers and wife, Mary; brother, Wade Flowers; grandchildren, Tommy Gaines and wife, Tammy, Angela Dickens and husband, Tommy Gary Maroney II, Chris Flowers and wife, Kelly, Wendy Casey, Michael Flowers II and wife, Vanessa, Jennifer Thurmon and husband, Darrell, Nicholas and wife, Sylvia, and Kristi and Krystal Flowers; great-grandchildren, Heather, Monique, Kristen, Megan and Danielle Gaines, Chandyce Munholland, Brandi, Clint and Taylor Dickens, Dustin, Drake and Waylon Maroney, Alyssa, Collin, Christopher and Kaleigh Flowers, Cole Flowers, Matthew, Stephen and Ciara Casey, Victoria Flowers, Abbigail, Ava and Andi Thurmon and Hali Flowers; great-great-grandsons, Kenneth and Thomas Gaines; dearest friend, Billie Flowers; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorothy Allen Harrison

GRETNA, La. — Mrs. Dorothy “Dotsie” Allen Harrison, age 59 and a Vicksburg native, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at home in Gretna, La.

Dotsie was preceded in death by her father and mother, William Lee “Fats” and Letha Branan Allen. She was the beloved wife of Master Magician Joseph F. Harrison and mother to her three daughters, Frances Darlene Allen Gelpi, Debbie Holeman Long and Lisa Michele MacLeod. She is also survived by her beloved son-in-law, Albert Long Jr., and her four grandchildren, William Joseph Davidson, Ashley Latino Pines, Amber Lynn Long and Brittany Margaritte Gelpi. In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister, Patricia Allen Donovan, and her brother, William Lee “Grisley” Allen III of Vicksburg.

Prior to moving to Gretna, she attended Culkin Academy and worked at Westinghouse Inc. with her father in Vicksburg. Dotsie first met her husband when they were 7 and 9, respectively, and had been best friends and lovers ever since. Dotsie and Joe were transferred to New Orleans in 1971 by the Illinois Central Railroad and started a new life together. Throughout her life, she, as well as her daughters, served as stage managers and assistants in their magic productions, which led them all over the world, where they created a unique theatrical experience that was both historic and contemporary, spanning magic’s “Golden Era” all the way until now.

Dotsie will truly be missed by all her friends, family and anyone who had the privilege of making her acquaintance.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitations and funeral services. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 tonight at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., in Metairie, La.; Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg; and Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Don Derivaux officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William Lee Allen III, Tommy Caruthers, Rodney G. Allen, Albert Long Jr., William Joseph Davidson, John Edward Harrison, Christopher Donovan and Gene Branan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Allen, Otto Branan, David Harrison, Mark Harrison, Andrew Harrison and Paul Harrison.
