Louise Newman Bunch
Mrs. Louise Newman Bunch died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Heritage House. She was 97.
A native of Hazlehurst, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Minnie Prine Newman. She owned Merle Norman Cosmetics store for a number of years. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg and was on the advisory board for Capitol Health.
Mrs. Bunch was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William H. Bunch Sr.; son, William H. Bunch Jr.; brothers, Carl Newman, Jimmy Newman, Floyd Newman and C.B. “Buddie,” Newman; and two sisters, Kathleen Lavecchia and Rachel Fournier.
She is survived by a brother, Horace Newman (Florence) of Valley Park; grandchildren, Lindy McCain (Marshall) of Pickens and William H. Bunch III of Saltillo, Miss.; great-grandchildren, Paul and Reese McCain and Russell and Annabelle Bunch; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were to be at 11 a.m. today at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank Newman, James “Jimbo” Newman, Horace “Butch” Newman, Mike DeLaughter, Joe Gex, Jimmy Newman and Patrick Lawrence.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Aden, Merritt Aden, Bill Curtis, Bill Ray, Ernest Volk, Don Miller, George Oswalt, Bobby Greenlee and great-great nephews.

Alan Joiner
TALLULA, Miss. — Alan Joiner died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 65.
Mr. Joiner was a native of Shelby, Miss. He had lived in Issaquena County for the past 50 years and was a catfish farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Annie Joiner.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda F. Joiner of Tallula, Miss; two sons, Greg Joiner of Avon, Miss., and Rodney Joiner of Rolling Fork; three sisters, Pat Harris of Grace, Miss., Sandy Fraley of Sheridan, Ark., and Cindy Craig of Memphis; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of God of Prophecy in Tallula with Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork in charge.
Mattie Harris Owens
NATCHEZ — Mattie Harris Owens died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Natchez Regional Hospital. She was 90.
Survivors include one son, Jessie Davis; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fayette. Burial will follow at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Funeral Home of Natchez. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
