Vicksburg High will look to close out its Class 4A playoff series with Neshoba Central this evening with a game at 5 p.m. at Warren Central.
The Gators (22-5), winners of 14 straight games, defeated Neshoba Central 7-0 on Saturday in Philadelphia. They can advance to the second round against either Pontotoc or Oxford with a win today. If Neshoba wins the first game today, the two teams will play again tonight.
Warren Central, which was scheduled to host Greenville, received a forfeit victory after Greenville canceled. The Vikings, the No. 2 seed in Division 3-5A, are scheduled to play Grenada at DeSoto Central in Southaven in a three-team tournament starting Thursday.
St. Aloysius, which eliminated Bogue Chitto in two straight games on Saturday, is scheduled to play at Ethel on Thursday at 7 in the first game of the best-of-three series. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at either Warren Central or Hinds.
Bazinsky Field, the every day home of the Flashes and Gators, is still not repaired more than two weeks after violent storms ripped down the backstop and shifted light towers.
Porters Chapel will open the Academy-A state playoffs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts University Christian.
The two teams will play the second game of their best-of-three series on Thursday at 6 at UCS. If a third game is needed, it would be Friday at 6 at PCA.
