Joe D. Guin

Joe D. Guin died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at his home. He was 71.

A native of Thomastown, La., Mr. Guin was a former Texas resident and had lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He owned and operated Joe Guin Garage for 15 years and was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Gretzinger Guin of Vicksburg; one daughter, Debra Sharp of Vicksburg; three sons, Roy Guin and Paul Guin, both of Vicksburg, and Tony Guin of Gulfport; two brothers, Harold Guin and George Guin, both of Longview, Texas; four sisters, Joy  Redditt and Beverly Shurtleff, both of Vicksburg, Reba Ellis of Longview and Barbara Curtsinger of Gladewater, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Johnnie Middleton, Bobby Middleton, Al Whitehead, Dewayne Wyatt, Jimmy Vinson and Harold Reed.

Honorary pallbearers will be Otto Moore and James Joyner
