ACHIEVEMENTS
Monica Renee Jackson has graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi Valley State University. She received the Gillman International Study Abroad scholarship, allowing her to study a semester in Alajuela, Costa Rica. She is employed at State Farm Insurance in Birmingham, Ala., where she completed a summer internship. She will pursue a master of human resource management degree at Troy University. She is the daughter of Mary Jackson and Lonnie Jackson and the granddaughter of Hazel Bell, the late Henry Bell Sr., Esther Jackson and the late R.D. and Neomi Faye Jackson.
DEGREES
Anthony B. Bowman has graduated from Jackson State University with a doctorate in public policy and administration with a concentration in policy analysis and public finance. The son of Pearl and Connie Bowman of Vicksburg, he has one daughter, Gabrielle Bowman.
Angela Carol “Angie” McRee of Vicksburg received a master’s degree in business administration from Mississippi College during summer commencement exercises. A contract specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Engineer Research and Development Center, she completed her undergraduate work at the University of Mississippi. She is the daughter of Tim and Carol McRee of Bay Springs and the granddaughter of Mamie McRee of Picayune and Cecil and Sally Bennett of Nicholson.
HONOR ROLLS
Ellen Frances Wakeley of Vicksburg has been named to the spring dean’s list at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
IN ATTENDANCE
Kristin Cook of Vicksburg and Valerie Graham of Tallulah were selected to attend the Math and Science Partnership Summer Institute. The program is designed to reinforce teacher content knowledge and skills in order to support improvements in student academic achievement. Both are instructors at Tallulah Academy.
Roger Dale Smithhart Jr. and Stephanie Denise Rodgers, both of Vicksburg, are participating in the Cooperative Education Program at Mississippi State University. The program allows students to affiliate with a business while alternating semesters at MSU to receive practical experience in a chosen field of study. Smithhart, a forestry major, is working at Anderson-Tully in Vicksburg. Rodgers, a chemical engineering major, is working at Dow Chemical in Midland, Mich.
