Three suspects held by city police for offenses related to fraud

Three were arrested by Vicksburg police Thursday for various fraud-related offenses.

* Loretta Johnson, 53, 3076 Woodside Drive, Jackson, was arrested at 11:28 p.m. on felony false pretense charges after attempting to cash a check at Rainbow Casino, 1380 Warrenton Road. Jackson Public Schools had stopped payment on the check, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

She was in Issaquena County Jail on $5,000 bond.

* Detrick Johnson, 1706 Rogers St., Vicksburg, was arrested at 2:35 p.m. at the police station on identity theft charges after attempting to purchase a cell phone using another person’s information, Stewart said.

He was in Issaquena County Jail on $2,500 bond.

* Berniski Nichols, 23, 2140 N. Frontage Road, Clinton, was arrested at 1:34 p.m. for uttering a forgery after attempting to cash a stolen check at Riverwalk Casino, 1046 Warrenton Road, Stewart said. The check was a payroll check he made out to himself, Stewart said.

He was at Warren County Jail on $10,000 bond.

County man held in theft of pistol

A Warren County man was in Warren County Jail this morning on grand larceny charges.

Ashton Wood, 17, 174 Caravane Circle, near Eagle Lake, was arrested at his home at 9:30 p.m. Thursday involving the theft of a Browning 9 mm pistol, Warren County Sheriff’s Department records show.

He was held without bond.

Stove, refrigerator, shirts among missing items

Two residential burglaries were reported Thursday in Vicksburg.

* A Frigidaire stove and refrigerator were reported missing at 1:37 p.m. from a home in the 1200 block of Grammar Street. The appliances are valued at $1,000.

* Ten polo shirts were reported missing at 3:05 p.m. from a home in the 500 block of Speed Street. The shirts are valued at $800.
