3 McDonald’s employees charged in purse theft

Three Vicksburg women were in Warren County Jail this morning facing charges of grand larceny stemming from a lost purse at a McDonald’s on Clay Street.

Joann Berry Bailey, 39, 1515 Ethel St.; Lashonda Williams, 34, 901 Speed St.; and Latoya E. Clark, 24, 1708 Bodley St., were arrested Tuesday by Vicksburg police, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

On Monday, a McDonald’s customer left her purse at the restaurant. When she came back for it, the purse was gone. Bailey, Lashonda Williams and Clark, employees at McDonald’s, were charged in connection with the theft of the purse, which contained about $700, Sgt. Williams said.

Bailey turned herself in to police at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Lashonda Williams and Clark were arrested at 11 a.m. on Clay Street. They were each being held on $10,000 bond.

Boat, decoys, purse missing in Vicksburg

A grand larceny and auto burglary were reported in the city Tuesday, said Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams.

A resident of the 200 block of Charleston Drive reported at 11:34 a.m. that a camouflage-painted boat with paddles valued at $820 and 18 duck decoys valued at $100 were stolen from his front yard.

A purse was stolen around 4 p.m. from a Ford Crown Victoria, unknown year, parked in the 700 block of Cherry Street. The owner had left the purse in the car for several minutes and when she came back it was gone. The purse contained credit cards and a checkbook.

Stolen vehicles found in Vicksburg, Jefferson

Two stolen vehicles were recovered Tuesday, said police Sgt. Sandra Williams.

A 2006 Infiniti stolen in Claiborne County was recovered at 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Cherry Street. The owner was out of town and was not aware that the car had been stolen, but the theft was verified through Port Gibson police. The car had two flat tires.

A 2008 Nissan Pathfinder reported stolen Monday from the 1300 block of Baum Street was recovered in Jefferson County.

The vehicle was found in a ravine, with damage to the passenger side and the rear window broken.
