Annie B. Allen

EDWARDS — Services for Annie B. Allen will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with family present from 6 until 7 p.m.

Mrs. Allen died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Allen was born in Edwards to the late Sam and Jannie Allen. She attended Mount Moriah Elementary School and was a member of Mount Moriah M.B. Church in Edwards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James C. Allen; five sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include a son, Terry Nickerson of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter, Heidi Moore of Palmer, Alaska; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including members of the Hill, Mace, Rozell, Smith, Allen, McGowan and Mack families.

June Poe Blakely

Memorial services for June Poe Blakely will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, Warriors Trail, with Elder Charles Holden officiating.

Mrs. Blakely died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at University Medical Center. She was 69.

A resident of Delta, Mrs. Blakely was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Tully Poe and Lottie Lou Ranson Poe.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Blakely of Delta; four daughters, Theresa Worthy of Winona and Kathy Jane Blakely, Sheila Love and Rachael Hollowell, all of Vicksburg; a son, Gene Blakely of Stewart; four brothers, Elder Jim Poe of Pickens, Elder Bobby Poe of Memphis, Billy Poe of Duck Hill and George Poe of Grenada; three sisters, Mary Long of Duck Hill, Gladys Blair of Columbus and Susie Robinson of Grenada; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services were at Mount Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church near Duck Hill. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

William Jackson

Services for William “Buddy” Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Toldson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with family present from 5 until 6 p.m.

Mr. Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 93.

He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Edwards, where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his son, L. J. Jackson; three sisters, Evelyn Jackson Walker, Ozella Jackson Sims and Roberta McCough; and two brothers, Clarence Jackson and Lawrence Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jackson of Vicksburg; three daughters, Vergie Keathley of Riverside, Calif., Ethel Walton of Byram and Nathiene Blackmon of Jackson; three sons, Joe Nathan of Joliet, Ill., Estell Williams of Jackson and C.D. McCoy of Edwards; a sister, Mattie Baker of Detroit; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Minnie Lindsey of Vicksburg and Johnnie Mae Selby of Jackson.

Jessie Mosley

Services for Jessie Mosley will be at 11 a.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Gardner Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Mosley died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 62.

Mr. Mosley was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired City of Vicksburg Water and Gas employee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie James Mosley and Geneva Clark Mosley.

He is survived by a brother, Willie James Mosley of Vicksburg; a sister, Dorothy Brown of Fayette; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Vera Mae Page

Vera Mae Page died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 76.

Mrs. Page was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leon Gaines; a sister, Angela Allen; and a grandson, Corey Simpson.

She is survived by two daughters, Deverette Trisby of Vicksburg and Peggy Simpson of New York, N.Y.; three sisters, Irene Claxton of Jackson, Charlene Jones of Vicksburg and Eva Jasper of Sacramento, Calif.; one brother, Henry Green of New York City; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Lue Bertha Sutton

Services for Lue Bertha “Sur” Sutton will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark M.B. Church with Bishop Joseph Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Sutton died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 87.

She was a former usher at St. Mark M.B. Church and a former member of the Willing Workers Club.

Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Sutton; her parents; Henry and Virginia Lewis; one sister, Hattie Mae Smith; one granddaughter, Barbara Porter; two great-grandsons, Anthony Wilson Jr. and Shone Jones; and a great-great-grandson, Denzel Whitfield.

She is survived by a daughter, Jessie Wilson of Chicago; a stepson, Clarence Sutton Jr. of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, including Henry Williams whom she reared of Vicksburg; 15 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Wildee, Potts, Brown and Jones families.
