A Jackson man was arrested and charged Tuesday after eluding police in an apparently stolen vehicle in Vicksburg.
Arrested at 2:45 p.m. was Jareld Ellis, 20, 2838 Clinton Ave. He faces charges of being in possession of stolen property and felony eluding, said Vicksburg Police criminal intelligence analyst Suzan Ebeling.
It was about 2:33 when the driver of a 2007 Mazda refused to stop when a Vicksburg Police patrolman attempted to pull it over at Clay and Locust streets, Ebeling said.
The patrolman began chasing the Mazda but lost it near Cherry and Magnolia after many turns. A few minutes later, the car was found unoccupied in the 1200 block of Woods Street, and a person was seen running on railroad tracks near First North Street. Ellis was arrested on Harrison Street.
The eluding vehicle was later identified as one stolen from a Hertz car rental company in Jackson.
Ebeling said Ellis was being held in the Issaquena County Jail pending an appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court this afternoon.
Three arrested in county in house burglary, larceny
Three arrests were made in the county Tuesday.Michael Scott Partridge, 21, 2450 Old Highway 27, and Michael Todd Nevels, 23, 1844 Culkin Road, were arrested for the April 4 burglary of a home in the 1700 block of Culkin Road, said Jeff Crevitt, an investigator with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Partridge was picked up at 5:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Monroe Street, and Nevels was arrested later at the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
Both were being held without bond in the Warren County Jail this morning.Joel Taylor Horton, 28, 120 Pebble Beach Road, was arrested at 4 p.m. at the Relax Inn, 1313 Walnut St, and charged with grand larceny. No further information about the offense was available this morning.

Cash, clothes missing in three burglaries
Tools, clothes and cash were reported taken in three city and county burglaries Tuesday.At 8:32 p.m., a business burglary was reported at Tri-State Tires, 2209 Washington St. Reported stolen was $12.A residential burglary in the 900 block of China Street was reported to Vicksburg police at 11:41 p.m. Repored stolen were three Dickie shirts valued at $60, a pair of Jordan tennis shoes valued at $120 and $100 in change.Thousands of dollars in tools were reported stolen Tuesday from a home on Campbell Swamp Road. The items included power saws, an air compressor and a drill press. The majority of the tools were Craftsman and were listed at $3,140.
Tractor stolen in 2005 found in Tennessee
A tractor reported stolen in Vicksburg in 2005 was found in Tennessee, police said.
The Kiote 40 horsepower tractor, along with a loader and box blade, had been reported stolen Dec. 22, 2005, from Abraham Construction, which at the time was located at Thalwag Road off of U.S. 61 North, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. Tuesday, the tractor and loader were recovered by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations near Nashville. The box blade was recovered, Stewart said.
