Honor societies
Jasmine M. Wheatley has been inducted into the Kappa Omega chapter of Beta Beta Beta national honor society at Alcorn State University. She is a senior majoring in biology/pre-medicine. She serves as president of the Pre-Medicine Club, Student National Medical Association liaison for the Minority Association for Pre-med Students, and parliamentarian of the Tri-Beta Club. She was named Miss Pre-Med during ASU Homecoming and is the daughter of Richard and Vera Wheatley.
Scholarships
Area Hinds Community College students who were honored at a Development Foundation luncheon for receiving scholarships were as follows: Candace Irving of Edwards, William A. Browne Scholarship; Lafreeta Gaines of Utica, Grady Sheffield Scholarship; Eric Howell of Utica, E.J. Williams Home Builders Scholarship; Erik Stubblefield of Utica, baseball work scholarship; Robin Breland of Vicksburg, Raymond Campus Career and Technical Scholarship; and Kurtessa Carter of Vicksburg, B.E. Lewis Scholarship.
Louisiana Technical College’s Tallulah campus is one of the recipients of a $10,000 scholarship contribution by Southeast Supply Header LLC.
