Jesse Mae Anderson
Jesse Mae Anderson died Sunday, March 3, 2008, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 83.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Tchula. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Anderson; her mother, Leona Clark; one brother, Willie Burden Sr.; one sister, Rosie L. Page; and her father.
Survivors include one son, Willie L. Burden; one brother, Leonard Boyd of Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy Lee White of Chicago; and other relatives.

Nell Kirschenbaum Bishop
BILOXI — Nell Kirschenbaum Bishop, 65, of Biloxi passed away on March 1, 2008, in Biloxi. She was born on Dec. 17, 1942, in Morganfield, Ky. She grew up in Vicksburg and maintained a lifelong connection to the city with family and friends. She graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in mathematics and then went to Delta State University, where she received a master’s degree in education. She moved to Biloxi in 1976 and taught mathematics at Biloxi High School until 1984. From 1985 until 1997, she was an independent education consultant. In 1993, she began teaching mathematics at the University of Southern Mississippi at the Gulf Coast Campus. She retired from USMGC in 2005. She was very involved in the Gulf Coast Community. She was a member of the City of Biloxi Library Board, an active member of the Friends of the Libraries group, and a longtime member of the Unit 180 Bridge Club where she previously held a board position and the position of secretary. She was a member of the National Council Teachers of Mathematics, the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics and Phi Delta Kappa.
Survivors include her daughters, Gretchen Brochard of Hurley, married to Glen; Amanda McDonald, married to David, currently stationed in Tokyo, Japan, at Yokota AFB; her brothers, Neil Kirschenbaum of Rayville, La., married to Hassie, and Richard Kirschenbaum of Vicksburg; sister-in-law, Carol Y. Kirschenbaum of Daphne, Ala.; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Nicole and Garrett Brochard and Taylor McDonald.
The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, they request that donations in Nell’s honor be sent to: The Humane Society of South Mississippi, 2615 25th Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501 or The Friends of the Biloxi Library.
The family will receive friends at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi, on Thursday, March 6, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Jayla Elmore
Jayla Elmore, infant daughter of Ronald Frank Doyle and Veronica Elmore, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at her home in Vicksburg.
She was a member of New Zion M.B. Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Jayden Elmore; her maternal grandparents, Dennis and Vivian Johnson and Joyce Elmore; and her paternal grandmother, Kay Doyle.
Services were at 11 a.m. today at New Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery.
Ethel Marie Jones
ALBANY, N.Y. — Ethel Marie Jones died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany, N.Y. She was 72.
She attended St. Mary Catholic School and graduated from Holy Ghost Catholic School in Jackson. She also attended Jackson State University. She moved to Albany, where she received a nursing degree from Maria College. She was employed as a registered nurse and retired from Stratton V.A. Hospital in Albany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin F. Jones Sr. and Jessie Kemp-Jones; and one sister, Altha B. Jones-Younger.
Survivors include one daughter, Latonia M. Jones of Albany; one brother, Benjamin F. Jones Jr.; four sisters, Lois Williams of Chicago, Willie Ella Ladner of Naperville, Ill., Mary Joyce Lawrence of Rochester, N.Y., and Nancy Johnson of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and members of the Kemp, Davis, Younger and Williams families of Vicksburg.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at St. Joan of Arc/the Black Catholic Apostolate. Burial will be at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Albany.

Wardell Moore
Wardell Moore died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was 78.
Mr. Moore was a longtime resident of Vicksburg,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Moore and Florence Fulton Moore; and one sister, Fannie Pearl Thomas.
He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Nelson of Washington, D.C.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Monroe Williams.
