Agnes Mathile Scardovi

Agnes Mathile Scardovi, known as “Aunt Teal” by her loving family, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in Vicksburg at the age of 96.
She was born Aug. 2, 1912, in Vicksburg. She was a 1931 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She worked from 1937 until 1943 as a sales clerk at Kress and The Valley department stores. Her starting pay was $9 per week.
She was a receptionist in The Street Clinic Pediatrics department from 1943 until 1982, serving Drs. Guy Jarrett, L.G. Horn, S.K. Love and Deborah Smith.
Miss Scardovi was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Virginia Scardovi; two sisters, Rosa Branciere and Mary Scardovi; one brother, Joseph Scardovi; a nephew, John Louis Branciere; a niece, Helen Nichols; and three additional siblings who died before their first birthdays, Adell, Catherine and Clement.
Survivors include one niece, Mary Branciere of Vicksburg; two great-nieces, JoGayle Reeves of Edwards and Rosemary Abbott of Vicksburg; three great-nephews, Andy Branciere of Baton Rouge, Rodney Nichols of Ocean Springs and Larry Nichols of Meridian; and several great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour preceding the service.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Nichols, Larry Nichols, Andy Branciere and Jay Angelo.
