PORT GIBSON — Earl Truitt died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was 53.

Mr. Truitt was preceded in death by his parents, John Edgar and Zola Truitt; two brothers, his twin Edgar Truitt and John Henry Truitt; and a sister, Clara Truitt.

He is survived by Patricia Thurmond of Port Gibson; a son, Patrick Thurmond of Port Gibson; two daughters, Valerie Simmons and Feliccia Simmons, both of Port Gibson; three brothers, Eugene Truitt of Chicago, David Truitt of California and James Truitt of Port Gibson; six sisters, Alma L. Henry, Catherine Derby and Lorene Truitt, all of Port Gibson, Gussie P. Wilson of Pattison, Rachel Smith of Lorman and Jennie Graise of Chicago; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson and Sunday at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service.
