20 Under 40

Nominations are being taken for 20 Under 40, a Vicksburg Post promotion to identify people who are making a difference for the better in our readership area. Winners will be published in a July 27 special section. Applications can be downloaded at www.vicksburgpost.com or picked up at The Vicksburg Post at Post Plaza, 1601-F N. Frontage Road. Wendy Alexander has been named director of human resources at River Region Health System.

Alexander has 12 years of experience in human resources and has spent the past seven years in the health-care industry.

She is a native of St. Martinville, La., and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Louisiana. She earned her human resources certification in 2001 and is pursuing a master’s degree in human resources.

Windham attains level of Competent Leader

Allyson Windham has attained the level of Competent Leader as a member of Vicksburg Toastmasters Club No. 2052.

To reach the status with Toastmasters International, a member must complete the Competent Leader manual, which contains 10 leadership projects.

Windham has a bachelor’s degree in information systems and decision sciences from Louisiana State University. She is a computer scientist at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Information Laboratory. She has been a member of the club since March 2004.

Gas and Supply ranked 30th on magazine’s list

Gas and Supply has been ranked No. 30 on Industrial Distribution’s annual list of largest industrial distributors.

The privately owned company has moved up five positions since its debut on the trade magazine’s Big 50 list in 2007.

Gas and Supply operates in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, with Mississippi locations in Hattiesburg, Laurel, McComb and Vicksburg. Gas and Supply’s Vicksburg office is at 50 Buford Drive.

Gas and Supply is the welding and supply distributorship sector of Kearns Enterprises.

Author to speak at PRAM meeting

The River City Chapter of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi has announced the guest speaker for its June meeting.

The group will welcome Tricia Raymond, author of “America’s Story: A Pictoral History of the Pledge of Allegiance,” to its monthly meeting, set for 11:30 a.m. Friday at Toney’s Restaurant. Cost is $11. She will also sell and sign copies of her book, which is $12.

Raymond was the recipient of the Mississippi Homemaker of the Year Award in 1993 for Concerned Women of America. She has spearheaded the start-up of three nonprofit organizations in Mississippi – the Mississippi Center for Public

Policy, formerly known as the Mississippi Family Council, the Greater Broadmoor Association and SafeCity. Raymond and her husband, Ken, have four children.

Hinds college to host chamber luncheon

The Vicksburg Warren County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon is set for noon June 18.

It will be hosted by Hinds Community College and will be at the multipurpose building on the Mississippi 27 campus. Reservations must be made by Monday. Limit is two employees per member organization.

The event is an appreciation luncheon for Warren County businesses and industries. Door prizes and a free gift will be given.
