CRIME * From staff reports

Two business burglaries on Clay Street may have authorities looking for the same culprit, Vicksburg police said.

At 2:13 a.m., police responded to an alarm at Whole Sale Imports, 2006 Clay St., where they found a broken front window and seven comforters, valued at $70 each, missing. About an hour later, police responded to an alarm two blocks down the street at the Dollar General Store, 2203 Clay St. There they found the front door window broken out, but it had not been determined this morning if anything was stolen.

“Due to the close proximity of the burglaries and the times they occurred, we’re seriously considering that they were done by the same person or group,” Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Also in the city Wednesday, a 1997 Ford Taurus was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Sky Farm Avenue. Police received the report at 9:17 a.m. The car had a Mississippi tag, reading HRX497.

Drugs were found at the home, but McRunnels was not. Stewart said McRunnels is wanted for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Stewart said anyone with information regarding McRunnels’ whereabouts should contact police at 601-636-2511 or 601-636-6393.
