Mary Elizabeth Smith

Mary Elizabeth Smith died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 76.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Water Valley and had been a Vicksburg resident since 1964. She was a retired administrative assistant with the Corps of Engineers. She was a member of Bovina Baptist Church.

She will be remembered by those who loved her as a mother, sister, nanny and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. “Bo” Smith; and her parents, Virgil and Ila Cooper.

She is survived by two sons, Craig D. Smith and Chris Lee Smith, both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Jacque Henley and husband J.R., and Debbie Haden and husband Ken, all of Vicksburg, and Tracy Puleo and husband Elio of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Virgil Cooper of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Jeanie Hinson of Redwood and Jane Hoffman of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Stacy and Carl Smith, Laurie and Chris Chaplain, Ben and Marina Davidson, Robby and Shannon Potts, Jarryd Smith, Brady Smith and Haley Smith; great-grandchildren, Connor Smith, Catherine Smith, Carson Smith, Cooper Chaplain, Noah Chaplain, Tinnin Potts and Luca Davidson; most special friends, Joann and Bill Burke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jess Summerall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Robby Potts, Ben Davidson, Jarryd Smith, Carl Smith, Chris Chaplain, Darwin Burke, Mark Hinson and Billy Burke.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Burke, Tommy Baker, Ed Lundy, Mike Walters, Joe Walters, Roger Arnold, Dr. Lee Giffin and Joey Credille.
