Auto store yields $1,700 for armed robber|[08/11/2008]

About $1,700 was reported missing from AutoZone, 2008 Clay St. in an armed robbery Saturday, Vicksburg police reports said.
A man displayed a small, black pistol to employees of the business after entering the store at 9:11 p.m., reports said. The suspect was described to police as black, 6 foot tall and about 160 pounds.
Guns, electronic equipment among missing items
Electronics, firearms and wiring were among items reported missing or damaged in burglaries in Vicksburg and Warren County over the weekend.
A PlayStation 3 video game system, a Dell laptop computer and a microwave oven were reported missing at 12:43 p.m. Friday from a home in the 200 block of Demby Drive, reports said. The items were valued at $1,305.
A Samsung digital camera, a Motorola cell phone and a weed trimmer were reported missing at 1:34 a.m. Saturday from a home in the 1500 block of Main Street. The items were valued at $329.
Cash and change totaling $50 was reported missing at 3:04 p.m. Saturday from a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity parked at Cracker Barrel, 4000 South Frontage Road.
A 5-ton air conditioner was reported missing at 5:08 a.m. from the outside of a home in the 800 block of Clark Street.
Electrical meter boxes were destroyed at Alfa Insurance, 1460 U.S. 61 North, during a break-in reported 10:23 a.m. Saturday. No items were missing, reports said.
A VR-3 car stereo was reported missing at 7:13 p.m. Saturday from a vehicle in the 1500 block of U.S. 61 North.
A .22 caliber pistol, $100 and various personal items were reported missing at 12:50 p.m. Sunday from a vehicle parked in the 6800 block of U.S. 61 South.
Electrical wiring was reported missing at 10:40 a.m. Sunday by the owner of a vacant home in the 100 block of Clark Road.
Car reported stolen on Cypress Street
A car theft was reported in Vicksburg over the weekend.
A black, 1994 Honda Civic was reported missing in the 1200 block of Cypress Street. No tag information was available from police reports.
Fayette man faces charges in car theft
A Fayette man was hospitalized following an incident reported as a vehicle theft Saturday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Bobby Lester, 35, 15 Green Pasture Road, was taken to University Medical Center after a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice he was driving was found crashed on U.S. 61 South a mile south of the Big Black River in Claiborne County at 7:36 a.m., Stewart said.
Two hours earlier, a customer of a Shell gas station at 4747 U.S. 61 South reported the vehicle missing after walking inside the store with the engine running and witnessing the man driving south with the vehicle.
Lester will be charged with auto theft after he is released from UMC, Stewart said. No condition report was available.
Six treated for injuries after wreck on Miss. 27
Four members of a Utica family and another woman were released Sunday from River Region Medical Center following a two-vehicle accident Saturday on Mississippi 27 at China Grove Road.
Victoria Brown, 36, and Latoria Lindsey, 13, both of 2461 Old Highway 3, Danielle Brown, 4, and Daniel Brown, 18 months, both of 3716 Old Highway 3, were in one vehicle in the wreck, Vicksburg Fire Department records show. No details were available from Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
Lula Wilson, 69, address unavailable, the driver of the second vehicle, was also treated and released.
A sixth person, Lena Womack, 87, 31972 Highway 18, Utica, was taken to another facility, a River Region spokesman said.
