Baseball and softball fields around the area were underwater this morning and several tournament games have been rescheduled because of the foul weather.
Hardest hit was the Mid-Mississippi Classic, a 16-team tournament played on fields around the Jackson area. All games Thursday were canceled and most of today’s action was canceled.
Vicksburg High is now scheduled to play Southeast Lauderdale on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., then play Brandon at 4. Both games are scheduled for Brandon High.
Warren Central is scheduled to play host Pearl on Saturday at 11 a.m., then battle defending Alabama Class 6A state champion Hillcrest at 1:30 p.m.
St. Aloysius is scheduled to play in the Little Mid-Mississippi Classic today, but games today and Saturday have been canceled, Flashes baseball coach Clint Wilkerson said this morning.
Wilkerson said he is trying to line up a game on Saturday at St. Andrew’s, but it was unclear whether the St. Andrew’s field would be ready.
The Lady Flashes softball team was supposed to host the Catholic Schools Tournament on Saturday, but it is in limbo because Natchez Cathedral has a religious retreat this weekend.
