UTICA – Olie Pickett Brown died Monday, June 30, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 97.

Mrs. Brown was a lifelong resident of Utica. She was a homemaker and a member of Cayuga United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie J. Brown; and a son, Thomas B. Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Charles J. Brown Jr. and wife, Berie, of Hockessin, Del., Robert B. Brown and wife, Doris, of Wrightsville, Pa.; two daughters, Ann B. Strong and Patricia B. Currie and husband, Dan, all of Utica; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Cayuga Cemetery in Hinds County. The Rev. Brad Hartzog will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight and 1 p.m. Thursday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Mattie L. Miller Weatley

INDIANAPOLIS – Mattie L. Miller Weatley died Friday, June 27, 2008, in Indianapolis. She was 64.

Mrs. Weatley was a former resident of Rolling Fork.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Alberta and Harry Washington of Rolling Fork; a son, Larry Franklin of Indianapolis; two brothers, Lonnie Franklin of Egremont, Miss. and Willie Houzah Jr. of Chicago; 10 sisters, Ida Dickerson and Shirley Barksdale both of Chicago, Ethel Kemp, Eula McIntyre and Pecarey Arnold, all of Indianapolis, Savannah Williams of West Memphis, Ark., and Adrain Mooreland, Rosie Jones, Ruth Williams and Martha Morris, all of Rolling Fork; and a grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion M.B. Church in Cary with the Rev. Elijah Eason officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Ollie Cemetery in Egremont with Mitchell L. Walker Funeral Home in charge.
