Riverwalk announces 3 management hires

Riverwalk Casino and Hotel has announced three management hires.

Verna Crawford will lead guest services. She has worked in the Vicksburg gaming market for 15 years. Her experience includes supervisor positions in guest services, hotel management, casino host, and events and promotions coordination. She has an associate degree in business and accounting from Hinds Community College.

Laura Shelby will lead marketing efforts for Riverwalk. She has 15 years of management experience in the gaming industry. She comes to Riverwalk from Gulfport’s Island View Casino and has worked in the California, Iowa, and Tunica markets.

Yolonda Lawyer Major is revenue audit manager. She has 15 years of experience in gaming management. Most recently, she was with Southland Gaming Park and Racetrack in West Memphis, Ark., as revenue audit manager.

Major has an associate degree in computer science from Phillips College.

The grand opening for Riverwalk, being built off Warrenton Road, is set for this fall.

MC sets job fair for part-time work

Mississippi College will host a part-time job fair for its students. The event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 3 in the Clinton college’s cafeteria.

The company roster will include Regions, Trustmark, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi, Brown Bottling, UPS and the YMCA of Metro Jackson.

Real estate investment firm opens office in Jackson area

Marcus and Millchap Real Estate Investment Services, the nation’s largest real estate investment services firm, has opened an office in the Jackson area.

Matthew M. Fitzgerald has been appointed regional manager; Brent Yurtkuran and Brad Barham will be senior associates; and Harry Noble will be the retail and single-tenant net lease investment specialist.

Yurtkuran and Barham join Marcus and Millchap from Jackson-based Real Estate Solutions, while Noble comes from Noble Development Properties Inc.

The office is at 617 Renaissance Way, Suite 200, in Ridgeland.

Marcus and Millchap has offices in Atlanta, Birmingham, Greenville, S.C., Louisville, Ky., Lafayette, La., Memphis and Williamsburg, Va., Charlotte, N.C., and Florida.
