Copper thefts continue with hit on Gibson|[06/18/08]

Copper continues to be a hot item for burglars as more was reported stolen in a county burglary Tuesday.

At a home in the 5600 block of Gibson Road, copper was stripped from a refrigerator, a freezer and a window air-conditioning unit, and an outdoor AC unit valued at $1,000 was stolen.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department received the report at 10:30 a.m.

reported in 2007, and reports of copper thefts continue nearly daily from city and county law enforcement officials.

Also Tuesday, a Ryobi weed trimmer valued at $89 was reported stolen from under the porch of a home in the 2500 block of Warriors Trail.

The sheriff’s department received the report at 6:43 p.m.

Dodge truck reported missing from dealership

A truck was reported stolen from a local car dealership Tuesday, Vicksburg police said.

At 1:48 p.m., police received a report of a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 missing from the lot at Atwood Chevrolet, 2339 N. Frontage Road, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

The truck is valued at $18,000.

County man shot in foot, treated and released

A Monday night shooting in the county that injured a man’s foot has left authorities looking for a suspect.

Anthony Turner, 19, 8348 Halls Ferry Road, was taken to River Region Medical Center after he was wounded in his heel, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. He was treated and released.

Earlier, authorities had responded to Marguerite Drive near Halls Ferry Road to reports of shots being fired.

Pace said they later found Turner wounded at his home, but were unable to find the shooter.
