LaShay Ball, 25, of Mayersville, uttering a forgery.

H.D. Ford, 23, 167 Anderson Road, vehicle burglary.

Troy Piggs, 39, Mayersville Apartments, Mayersville, one indictment for burglary, assault with intent to ravish, and grand larceny, and a second indictment for two counts of grand larceny.

When grand juries convene, law enforcement officers present cases while jurors decide if there is enough evidence for a criminal trial. If so, indictments are issued and defendants, most of whom have been free on bond, appear at a formal arraignment to hear the charges they face. Most remain free on bond pending resolution of the indictments through a trial or plea bargains.

Grand juries convene twice a year in Issaquena County, three times in Sharkey County and four times in Warren County.

In other court actions, in Warren County Circuit Court this week:

Corey Lovell Anderson, 22, 217 Hillside Drive, had his suspended sentence revoked after he was found by the court to have violated probation. He was sentenced by Judge Isadore Patrick to five years in prison and ordered to pay $2,312.50 in fines, court costs and assessments. Anderson had received the suspended sentence in March 2008, after he pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and possession of a stolen firearm. Last week, Anderson pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine, for which he was handed another five-year sentence.

Cedric Dale Drayton, 22, 140 Alcorn Drive Apt. 140, was found to have violated probation and had his suspended sentence revoked. He was sentenced by Patrick to 172 days in prison followed by five years of probation. He was also ordered to pay $2,512.50 in fines, court costs, assessments and restitution. Anderson’s suspended sentence stems from a guilty plea to felony malicious mischief in September 2005.

Patrick sentenced Leon Felix Jr., 20, 1303 Wood St., who pleaded guilty to statutory rape. Felix was handed a 10-year sentence, which was suspended. Patrick also ordered Felix be placed on probation for three years and pay $2,312.50 in fines, court costs and assessments. Felix pleaded guilty to having a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old in March 2007 in the 1600 block of Crawford Street. After being placed on probation, Felix was arrested Tuesday by Vicksburg police and charged with possession of cocaine.

Patrick sentenced Cary Jones, 31, 610 Heartwood Drive, to 10 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to sale of marijuana. She was also ordered by Patrick to pay $2,312.50 in fines, court costs and assessments. The defendant pleaded guilty in a July 27, 2006, offense at her home.

Jabari Damond McGrew, 18, 290 Rocky Lane, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling. He was sentenced by Judge Frank Vollor to three years of probation and ordered to pay $1,887.50 in fines, court costs, assessments and restitution. McGrew pleaded guilty in the Oct. 2 burglary of a home in the 100 block of Hilda Drive.
