Beautiful Bride 2008 at convention center on September 14

After a nine-month delay, the show will go on Sept. 14 for Vicksburg’s seventh annual bridal expo.

Beautiful Bride 2008, usually in January, was put off this year until September because it had been scheduled during the same month as a similar event in Jackson.

Beautiful Bride 2008 will include vendors from around the South.

“It’s a wonderful show,” said Erin Powell, VCC marketing and events coordinator. “Each vendor will have their own booth and will set it up according to whatever the specialty is. In the past, hotels have set up samples of what their rooms look like, caterers have brought samples of their dishes and clothing shops have set up mannequins. It brings all aspects of planning a wedding into one room.  It’s a one-stop shop.”

Beautiful Bride 2008 will be from 1 until 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at Vicksburg Convention Center, with a fashion show at 3. Tickets are $5 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com, the Convention Center Box Office or by calling 601-355-5252.

The event will also include a fashion show that will feature attire modeled by Vicksburg residents and models who travel with the vendors. Many of this year’s male models will be local firefighters.

“This is all about the brides getting extra special care,” said Powell. “In addition to the fashion show we’ll have rooms set up to look like wedding and reception rooms, and we’ll have cake and food tasting. There are also door prizes from the vendors.”

Powell said organizers have said they’d prefer to keep the show in the fall.

“We wanted to give brides a different option in the year rather than doing it in January when most area bridal shows are,” said Powell. “It is just a more relaxing time. But we won’t know if the brides will like the idea until after the show. Depending on the turnout and the responses, we’ll either keep it in the fall or return it to January next year.”

Tickets for the event, set for 1 until 4 p.m., are $5 and are available by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or the Convention Center Box Office. They can also be obtained by calling 601-355-5252.
