Mistrial declared in Davenport case

STARKVILLE  — A mistrial was declared Tuesday afternoon in the Oktibbeha County trial of a Vicksburg-based state trooper accused of child sexual abuse.

Oktibbeha County Circuit Judge James Kitchens set a Jan. 23 date to hear motions on what evidence will be admissable when a new date is set for the trial of Richard Dane Davenport, 46, of Vicksburg, who is charged with one count of fondling or improper touching of a child younger than 16.

Davenport is charged with nine counts of child sexual molestation in Warren County.
