Katherine Hathorn died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Covenant Health and Rehab. She was 89.

Born in Panola County, Miss., she was the daughter of the late John Henry Burnette and Minnie Belle Fowler Burnette. A former longtime resident of Houston and Buffalo, Texas, Mrs. Hathorn had been a resident of Vicksburg since 2000. She and her late husband owned and operated a janitorial business prior to their retirement. Mrs. Hathorn was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Candlelighters Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bernard C. Williams and Percy L. Hathorn; one son, Jesse Williams; one daughter, Ruth Little; two sisters, Clara Willis and Cora Thompson.

She is survived by four daughters; Helen Turner and her husband John of Vicksburg, May Johnson and her husband Wayne of Evans, Ga.; Jane Hopson and her husband Willis, Alice Huff and her husband Hal of Pelahatchie; one son, Monroe Williams of Brandon; fourteen grandchildren, Becky Veach, Debbie Little of Crosby, Texas, Clayton Little of Lovelady, Texas, Jesse Williams Jr. of Houston, Texas, Andi Winnett of Jackson, Zak Johnson, Jason Johnson of Evans, Ga., Jeff Williams of Pearl, Scott Kimble, Chelsea Hopson, Jak Kimble of Pelahatchie, Dazzlyn Howell of Brandon, Jay Turner, Laura Geter of Vicksburg; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
