Provine hands Lady Vikes overtime loss|[01/23/08]

Provine outscored Warren Central 13-7 in overtime to snag a key Division 3-5A victory on Tuesday night, 72-66.

The win further muddied the division race. Greenville and Clinton are both 2-1 in the division, while Provine is 2-2 and Warren Central is 1-3. The division tournament is scheduled to be played at Warren Central and Lady Vikes coach Donny Fuller noted that only one division game has been decided by more than nine points.

Junior Sha’Kayla Caples scored a game-high 27 points and Karnina Bunch added 19 for the Lady Vikes, who are scheduled to host No. 7 Forest Hill in Saturday’s Red Carpet Classic at 5:30 p.m.

Sareatha Brown and Kiana Harris each scored 25 to lead Provine, while Cierra Ramsey added 12 points.

(B) Provine 83, WC 60

Scotty Haralson scored a game-high 34 points and the Rams led from the start in easily handling Warren Central.

The Rams led 23-7 at the end of the first quarter and took a 42-24 lead into halftime. Warren Central sliced the lead to 12 going into the fourth quarter, but the Rams used a 28-point fourth quarter for the final margin.

Emery Kelly scored 16 points for Provine.

Jeremye Smith led Warren Central with 23 points and Dino Harris added 13.

(G) Pelahatchie 50, St. Al 33

Carlye Smith scored a team-high 10 points for St. Aloysius, but Pelahatchie led 20-7 at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a victory.

The Lady Chiefs led 32-13 at halftime and were never threatened.

Alexis Boyd scored 12 points for Pelahatchie.

(B) Pelahatchie 57, St. Al 45

Alex Lanier led all scorers with 26 points for St. Aloysius, but only three other Flashes got on the scoreboard.

Even with the lack of scoring depth on Tuesday, the Flashes trailed by only four points going into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 19-11 in the final frame.

The Flashes are scheduled to play Mount Olive in the Red Carpet Classic on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

(B) Univ. Christian 36, PCA 33

Porters Chapel led 14-4 at the end of the first quarter, but did not score in double digits in any of the final three quarters and suffered a loss against University Christian.

Matt Cranfield scored 11 points to lead Porters Chapel, which scored just 19 points over the final three quarters.

James Rader led University Christian with 17 points.

(G) Univ. Christian 56, PCA 8

Sarah Spann and Lindsay England scored 11 points each to lead four Lady Flames in double figures in an easy win over the Lady Eagles. Lauren Sipes and Alex Gregory each scored 10 points in the win.

University Christian led 35-2 at halftime.
