The Vicksburg Vipers, fresh off an appearance in the USFA World Series, scored more than 50 runs in three games Saturday to win the 8-and-under ASA Gold state fast-pitch tournament in Ridgeland.
The Vipers survived a 12-11 slugfest against the Pascagoula All-Stars, then routed McComb twice, 18-7 and 22-5 in the championship game. The Vipers finished play in the World Series in Florida on Thursday, drove back to Mississippi on Friday, and played in the state tournament on Saturday. They finished the summer with a 35-15 record and won six of seven tournaments in the state.
