Harrison Havard Sr.
Services for Harrison Havard Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. L. Joseph Jessing officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Robbins Funeral Home with rosary from 7 until 8.
Mr. Havard died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at his home. He was 94.
Mr. Havard had retired from the Vicksburg National Military Park and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Men’s Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Argentina Allen Havard; his parents, Joseph and Helen Havard; three brothers, Joseph Havard Jr., Peter Havard and Eddie Havard; and a sister, Gloria Rainey.
He is survived by one son, Harrison Havard Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Beulah M. Caison and Melba Havard Cowan of Los Angeles; a sister, Bessie Havard of Albion, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Walter McCarty
TALLULAH – Walter McCarty died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Madison Parish Hospital. He was 91.
Mr. McCarty was born in Epps, La., and had lived in Madison Parish for 60 years. He was a retired heavy-equipment operator. He attended Willow Bayou Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Taylor McCarty of Tallulah; two sons, Mack McCarty and Ted McCarty, both of Tallulah; and two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Magnuson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
