An armed robbery at the Sonic on U.S. 61 North Wednesday night, which was the city’s fifth this year, has police looking for two suspects, police said.

At about 10 p.m., employees at the fast-food restaurant reported two men, both wearing bandanas around their faces and one carrying a handgun, entered the building and demanded money, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. According to Stewart, the two fled by unknown means in an unknown direction with an unknown amount of money.

Stewart said the suspects were described as black, one about 5-foot-11 and one about 5-foot-7.

The four other armed robberies in the city this year occurred in a seven-day span in early January.Jan. 2, Topsie’s Liquor Store, 3512 Washington St.Jan. 5, A&V Discount Liquor, near Hope and Clay streets.Jan. 5, Kangaroo, 3400 Halls Ferry Road. Walter Cook, 24, 240 Spouts Spring Road, and Kenneth Lee Rankin, 18, 248 Valley View, were arrested in the robbery. Both were also suspects in the robberies at Topsie’s and A&V, but Stewart said neither has been charged.Jan. 8, Chevron, 3326 Clay Street.

City man charged with selling cocaine

A Vicksburg man faces charges of sale of cocaine after his arrest Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Willie Wash, 47, was picked up by police at 1 p.m. at his home at 2422 Halls Ferry Road, said Vicksburg Police criminal intelligence analyst Suzan Ebeling.

Wash was in the Warren County Jail this morning on a $10,000 bond.

Stolen motor home recovered on Iowa

A motor home reported stolen in December was recovered by police Wednesday.

The 1991 Alegro Bay motor home was found by authorities in the 3200 block of Iowa Boulevard at 5:09 p.m., said Vicksburg Police criminal intelligence analyst Suzan Ebeling. On Dec. 27, it had been reported stolen from the 4700 block of U.S 61 South.

Ebeling said this morning no arrests had been made.
