A Bolton woman convicted of methamphetamine charges will spend a decade in prison.
Circuit Judge M. James Chaney sentenced Kimberly Ann Whitehead, 41, of Bolton to 10 years in prison following by five years’ probation after she was convicted during a two-day trial earlier this month of possession of precursors with intent to manufacture meth and possession of meth.
She faced up to 76 years in prison because she has a previous meth conviction from Louisiana.
Whitehead must also attend the Mississippi Department of Correction’s long-term alcohol and drug treatment program while incarcerated.
During trial, Whitehead, who was represented by Josie Hudson, contended the meth and precursor chemicals belonged to her co-defendant, Randall Shane Hulett.
Hulett, 40, pleaded guilty in August possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursor chemicals and was sentenced by Chaney to three years in prison followed by eight years’ probation.
He returned to Warren County from prison to testify at Whitehead’s trial during which he claimed exclusive possession of the narcotics and precursors.
Whitehead and Hulett were arrested at 12:04 a.m. Oct. 4, 2012, after investigators Mike Traxler and Stacy Rollison saw Whitehead carry items into an outbuilding behind her home on U.S. 80 where the deputies found an active meth lab.
